'95 Pajero Q.

Post by bbisset »

Hi, I just got the inspection back on my newly imported Paj and apparently I have a left front wheel bearing that needs to be replaced ("evident play - fail" remark).

Anyone know if I can just order Montero bearings for the replacement?

The other comment I got was "front side marker lights - no reflectors - fail". Any ideas?

TIA!

I would bet that the wheel bearings just need to be removed and repacked. For the front reflectors all you need is some stick on ones from an auto supply store.

Ah thx Vern. I'll have my local mechanic shop do just that and get some stick-ons from CT.

I just stuck the reflectors on and took them off after the inspection
Really?? This is the advice your handing out? WTF?

Just leave them on. Your not doing yourself any favours by knowingly not complying. It's like the kids who turn the N sideways into a Z - why draw attention to yourself as a non-complier?

Seriously, there are people who don't like RHD imports, and they look for any faults in them - we're under closer scrutiny - don't give them any justification.

Probably a good policy, but to tell you the truth, I've recently discovered that some some shady twit passed my van with ZERO compliance, and it's been like that for 7 years, presumably with no problems. The headlights are Japanese, no side marker reflectors or lamps, no driving lights. The tires were replaced a year ago, so that at least was dealt with. It even used to pull like a bear because they never bothered to update the alignment. Amazing how this stuff gets through.

I retracted my statment as I didn't know it would get such a reaction. I was just talking about reflectors nothing else, and to me EVERYTHING else should be in full compliance. My front reflectors are still on, but the back ones are not as they just didn't look(too me) good and they started to fall off anyway.....But to be in full compliance they must be there and if they are not you are breaking the LAW just as when you drive over the speed limit.

I was in no way saying this is the right thing to do, nor should be done...nor was it "advice" just what I did......but I do think the WTF! was a bit much....

Ok - so I came on a bit strong. In retrospect WTF was pretty heavy. There have been some characters over the years that have been quite cavalier about compliance - and I painted you with the same brush - my apologies.

WTHeck maybe, or just a simple What? would have been more appropriate, eh?

I am also a bit unsure where the little reflectors should go... as seen in the photo of the Paj (bottom of page) http://www.delica.ca/forum/what-did-you ... 03-90.html, there are those little reflectors middle of the quarter panel under the Exceed badge. Granted, they were a bit dirty from the shite conditions at present, so I am guessing they want them elsewhere.

Thats where they should go, most new North American cars have built in reflactors in the side of the head and tail lights. so you want one yellow one close to the front signal and one red one close to the back tail light. I've circled where they should be. you can see the round yellow one on the front. they can be round or rectangular but have to be there to pass.

And to Glenn Its all good... Safety is important to me too and I should put the back reflector on, just need to find one that looks like it belongs there...
