Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Hey,

So I have a '93 Super Exceed and I'm just wondering how warm the cabin should get with the heats on full. I hate winter and I love heat thus the question.

Soooo, I've had it warm up to to 21 degrees on some of these cool Ontario days but winters not even here yet. What happens when it gets really cool.

I know it might seem a bit ridiculous to some folks on here. But should it not get a little hotter than 21 degrees when the heats on full. Otherwise I'm moving to Florida!!!

Mine gets intolerably hot, but the temperature inside varies based on the temperature of the engine. 21 sounds too cool.

The heater on my L300 has always been anaemic. When it gets cold, we bundle up. I'm convinced it's because the temperature of engine runs at just above cold. I've been told my thermostat is working properly. . . .

My L400, on the other hand, has no trouble getting warm.

should get hot like a flame thrower....my gauge not even into the normal section throws heat almost flame...

You need to flush the heater core it sounds like it is clogged...

I personally would do a complete engine flush (add a block heater if you do not have one) and back flush the heater core...also I would do hoses and keep the old as spares.

Cooling is important to Delicas so if it not making heat the cooling (and therefore) heating system needs work

Right, the temp gauge on the dash hardly moves off of cold no matter how long I run it for. I just had a complete service at RightDrive in Toronto & they did all the fluids but I'm sure they didn't flush the rad. Maybe they just topped it up. I've only got 73,000 Kms on the odometer but maybe I'll look into this further. I did get RightDrive to install a magnetic block heater while I was there.

Man, I hate winter:( but thanks for the input:)

Your problem sounds like a bad thermostat. Replace it and your heat will start working again.

Ahhh, bad thermostat. Yeah that might be something. With the temp gauge hardly coming off cool, I figured the system was working exceptionally well to the point where there wouldn't be much heat in the cabin if the engines running so cool. ( can u tell I'm not a mechanic) :) but this van is like new with so few Kms.

So is this a big job and where would u suggest purchasing a thermostat from.

I can't answer how hard it would be for an L300 as I have the 400 - and I have not done the thermostat on either.

I have done it on plenty of other vehicles though, and it is generally not hard at all. It does result in some coolant spillage - unless you drain some of your coolant out before you start. Then, generally you undo 3-4 bolts and pull a covering off, and there is the old thermostat. You take a rubber seal and put that around the edges of your new thermostat, and then you put it in place of the old one. Put the bits back like they were, tighten and re-add some of that coolant you removed.

Done!

Just make sure you do this when your engine is cold, and take note of which direction the thermostat is facing when you take out the old one. If you put it in backwards it won't work! (Some vehicles allow the thermostat to go in the wrong way, some don't).

since you have to drain the system I would flush the core at least...

I use only OEM thermostats as I have had lots of no-name one fail. I also add a 1/8 hole to them to assist in bleeding the system...google it.

I run a coolant temp gauge and a head temp gauge and and they have always been consistant with the factory gauge. If the factory gauge is reading around the quater mark my coolant temp will be 82c-90c and head temp 87c -95c. When the factory gauge hits half way my coolant gets to about 100c but that is extremely steep hills.

when it gets really cold (below -15) my l300 is pretty cold. its got a recently done rad, t stat, etc etc. i blocked the rad off this winter, and that makes a big difference in engine warm up times. i notice a big cold air draft coming into the cabin round the front of the hood seal by the shifters. When I drove my van up last February it was really cold at highway speeds. once I played with the settings on my heater controls i could get comfortable. Usually this time of year the van never warms up though, because I never drive far enough to get it to full operating temp for long enough. Its warm enough to take the edge off, which is enough for me I guess haha.
