Flexible oil pan heater size

Can anyone tell me the size of "Flexible oil pan heater" I can attach to the bottom side of the 4M40 oil pan.
You will save me the time to pull of my plates

i bought one for 12 qts and attached it to the front not the bottom... if you go on the bottom it will be a very small heater. Yes heat rises but the capacity of the oil will still be in contact...my size was about 3'' by 4.5'' i would say. They are rated in ability to heat a certain amount of oil.

Model 512 from auto value... I think it's Canadian heaters... There essintaly all the same I have an account from auto value... Just under 100$

I am curious why you would bother with a pan heater, when the same thing can be accomplished by using a 0-30 or 40 weight oil. The 0 - 40 oil lets the motors crank over pretty much like summer time. The faster a diesel will crank over, the easier they start.

personal preference.... a 0 weight oil in my opinion is to light for this particular use. Warm oil has beneficial effects on many different oil activated componentry in the engine and has a great capacity to transfer heat to a frozen engine.

The oil pan heater helps starting, but it has many other benefits aside from that.

The 0 weight oils are designed for commercial and industrial uses. I have run them into the summer with no adverse affects. In fact my neighbour runs it year around in 5.9 cummins in his tractor. The real benefit is when you have to leave a vehicle parked without access to hydro. At -20 or 30 it can mean the difference of driving home or calling for a ride.

Oil pan heaters are also designed for industrial use... wolverine heaters. O weight oil lacks what is called laminar flow resistance... aka stick to parts ability. Yes it flows and all that pretty stuff but the noticeable difference when it comes to engine protection between a 5 weight and a 0 weight is what matters. Like i said before my vehicle starts fine plugged in or not, with a pan heater or not. It will be better on the engine with warm/hot oil and cause less internal wear on parts. Our diesel (4M40) is lucky in the fact that it has the ability to take other types of oil aka 5 weight, 15 weight etc. This is not the case in many newer styles because of injection setups, there designed to take a specific weight of oil based on "stickiness"

If 0 weight works for yah go nuts! Ill stick with 5

And don't quote me on this its been a while since i was in school
