The gauge pod got an update with some carbon fiber embossed vinyl. The factory stuff was hard and cracking all over. Turned out good. Also got the new center panel installed around the stereo and heater controls.

Ok, so I didn't do this today - I just finally got around to posting it. I have dubbed it the L300 Utility wagon. It is the ultimate road trip van. It still sits 4. Behind the bulkhead, there is storage underneath for 4 12" rubber made bins, plus smaller items in the third compartment. There are 6 tie downs to secure anything else above that. Fold the seats down, and the bulkhead lays flat over top of them to create a sleeping platform. And to top it all off, you can still slip a full sheet of plywood in when you need to.

I haven't finished the sides yet. My plan here is have a series of cubbies for storing soft goods in stuff sacks. I hope to finish this up over the next few months. And it's all finished in bamboo veneer over birchply. It was awesome on our Yellowstone roadtrip - everything had a place, and it made de-camping a snap.

Finally finished my stereo install... Type S 6x9 in the rear( those suck to get at) 4" kickers in the dash, And Type S 6.5 in the doors. New wiring at 12 gauge to all speakers and eliminated the floating ground.

But now a have a very slight pop/crackle kinda like background clapping on certain tracks and is super inconsistent. All connections are good but curious if anyone has ever run into this. Possibly screwed files on my iPod with the USB connector? any ideas?

Thanks Guys

The last time I experienced snap, crackle & pop (apart from a famous breakfast cereal) was because the vinyl was dirty and my needle was picking it up on my component stereo hi-fi. Could it be an effect on the particular piece you're listening to? As I've been typing this post I have some groove tunes playing in my cans, they drop snap crackle & pop in for effect from time to time. Alternatively it could be dirty connexions, although I don't think this sounds like the case with your situation.

Falco.

I have come to the conclusion it is the USB hook up in the deck... Tracks that "pop" from my iPod were burned on to a cd and the pop disappeared... Tried different cables and the pop is still there do its on the USB side.... Just means I listen to cd's no big deal

Turned a spraypaint can into a catch can. Hopefully keeps a little oil out of the turbo.

Removed some superfluous wiring from driver foot area. Yup, all of this came from behind the throttle pedal.

(Yes, I know most of it is an alarm, but it didnt work)

Did the winter maintenance. Changed the oil and threw on a new filter. Cleaned the bus bar with some vinegar and salt and it looked like a shiney brand new penny! Put in a new set of NGK's and changed the coolant temp sensor. Cleaned the K+N. Put in a new home-made cabin air filter. Bring on stupid winter- I am ready to go!
