Lucas oil stabilizer

I have used Lucas oil stabilizer in lots of different applications over the years and was curious of others thoughts and experiences?

Feel free to move this to where ever the topic fits? Modifications maybe?

Yes, it is well-loved by the TardisDeli. No more than a half cup maximum per oil change, or you can cause problems with the excessively thick oil. Makes engine run quieter. I keep a bottle handy as it can be used on other delica parts ... label makes it sound like snake oil as it fixes everything. Cheers christine.

What are the benifits of an oil stabalizer? Other than makes your engine quieter? Can it be used with synthetic oil as well? Can I give it to loud people to make them quieter?

in ghetto terms its engine safe gear oil. It has a high adhesion so it sticks in the head but this can present a problem because it has a high viscosity and can be hard to pump... works good in diffs. But in oil I'm undecided.... ill try a bit in the deli and see how she is!

Fine in the engine during warm/summer but run straight oil in the winter, especially below 0.

Sounds like a bad idea to me. At best just a waste of money... Change the oil and filter regularly and don't mess with what's in the oil jug - it comes ready and able to lube your engine just the way it is.

Sounds risky to me, I think I'll skip using oil stabilizer.

If you check the MSDS it is pretty much just 80wt oil and soap.

There are several products that lucas make, I have been working on diesels for quite awhile. I have never had a problem even in -40c weather. It raises oil viscosity, if you follow the directions it is amazing and I have never had damage caused by lucas, if you want to flush use the seafoam additive it works awesome. I only suggest not using lucas on wet clutches like a motorcycle, other than that feel free it works like a charm and quiets down lifters and minor valve slap.

Didn't have a brand in mind, just know that those companies make a engine oil flush. Do you know of one that is better than the rest.

oil flush i preferred to run ATF through.... by this i mean drain at most half a litre add in ATF and run at idle... ATF has great cleaning qualities and is seal safe and not aggressive enough to do damage... couple this with a hot oil change and leaving the van to drain for a long time makes for a very efficient oil change

I just do a seafoam treatment. I guess it is best to do it once a year, so every spring I will be doing it. Made it sound really good, for a while.
