Completely Rhino Guarded L300?!

Post by shealy »

Had an L300 pass me today (Friday April 27th) on HWY 1 heading east near coquitlam ikea. Looked like the entire shell of it had been painted with rhino guard. Ive heard about people doing the roof (myself included) but the entire thing?? Crazy! Is this anyone on the forums?

Kind of falls under the same category as "if the black box is so indestructible why don't they make the whole plane out of it?" I imagine it would be a sturdy skin for the wagon, be nice to see some pictures if the owner is reading this.

There used to be an older Toyota Tacoma parked in N Van that was completely rhino lined. Haven't seen a delica done but not a bad idea. The Toyota looked good.

I can only imagine that it is mine Tip to tale from the second year I owned it. Matte black and bullet proof. Scrapes the bark off trees. Pretty sure its the only one of its kind.

If the one you saw was grey, with a custom metal rear tail light section, that was KayaCraig, super nice, he stayed with us for a while, and is now travelling the island (his mum is visiting him, so they are doing the tourist stuff). Yes he did the entire van, it looks good in grey (the balck ones I have seen show the dust so much). Cheers Christine.

Good point, my hippo lined roof is a dirt magnet, it just sticks for some reason and takes a good amount of scrubbing to clean.

Half a can does the roof (I used the paintable). You can probably figure it our based on the sqft.

I would Probably have to sand the cr*p out of everything huh...
Maybe one piece at a time, to keep the job less daunting.
or is there another way?
do i have to sand right down to metal? or just to primer? or just scuff it up? or not at all?
or is there some chemical paint i could just re-prime with?
hmm... i'm off to google to try to answer my own questions.
