Re: trailer hitch
HI Scotty, welcome to our cult.
We have a trailer hitch on our 1997 L300 (it was on my 1991 L300). I can take photos. Highly recommend the E&H Hitch, very sturdy, have used ours for years towing boats/trailers/ etc. But they are in Burnaby, cost $500 ish and very worth it.
Many others have had the E&H hitch installed on L300, L400, Pajero, NIssan Patrol, etc. They have a pile of old delica bumpers in the corner (no bumper needed after that sturdy metal hitch is installed.
Is yours an L300 (engine under your seat), or L400 (engine in front). Your posting says you live in Parksville, so you have a superb resource near you, that is Coombs Country Autos (www.ccautos.ca), Graham and Glen own the repair shop, and I think one of his vehicles might have a trailer hitch on. Or else they certainly know who would do a good job. Do be aware that some do-it-yourself kits are criminally undersized in my opinion, especially the bolts and metal thickness, and are not meant for towing heavy loads (better just for attaching a bike rack for a 10 speed bike).
If you are towing a trailer, do check the regulations to determine what type of brakes your trailer needs.
If you have more questions, you are welcome to send a PM private message to us, as we will see that quicker than a posting here.
Cheers, christine.
