Electrical: ac blower

Some basic help for an auto electrical neophyte.

My cabin air fan runs intermittently. It's on for a while, then stops. Turn it off for a few mins., try again, it works sometimes. Is there a relay or something that could be causing erratic functioning, or do I just test for electrical shorts, etc.

I don't know how close your van is to a Pajero but mine does that in Auto because it is trying to turn the fan speed up down all over and through different vents to give a good overall average temperature for maintaining the setpoint. So what you describe could be normal but that's just a guess.

The fan that blows air into the cab should just run, at the speed you set it, the AC side will switch on and off, when AC is engaged.

If it does this at any speed setting it's likely the earth, if its only at one speed, suspect that feed I guess.

Unless it is in Auto because you haven't selected a speed if it is in auto, it selects it for you.

Hey,
If it is an L300 there is no "auto" setting it ,is a basic
climate system (like in the L400 bare bone simple chamonix I believe)
All slide cables for the vents ect. Nice and Basic.
The fan will just run at whatever setting you choose for it.
Most 2.5 pajeros of same years that I have seen do have the mostly awesome
more complex climate control system.( I pray mine never breaks)

Pretty sure there is a relay for the fan motor
and there is an over-temp cut off switch for the AC as well
(think it is in engine bay on passenger side RHD)
but that one is used for your AC system not the fan I don't think.

Is this problem only when you are using actually AC (air conditioning)
or just venting(a carpenter ) or both?
Does it occurs at all fan speeds?

I would guess loose or crappy switch in Dash or
a loose connection or crap in the squirrel cage fan.
(you would probably hear the last one somewhat)

Thanks everyone for the advice. I finally got a chance to contort myself on the floor of my van and look up under the dash and find the blower motor, and the I wiggled the connector and . . . it worked. So, my question now is, now that I found the culprit, what do I do?

I can touch the connection on the back of the blower motor, but I cannot see it well enough to figure out how to disconnect it. I know there is a catch of some kind, but am too unfamiliar to even know what to feel for. And what would I do if I do get it undone? It's been over a week, and I haven't had any other problems since. But I know it's going to quit again right when I need it most.

Not sure if this is the "give-it-a-whack" syndrome that's been in past threads. Mine was worn and worked intermit. and then finally not at all. I ended up getting a new blower motor - ordered it as a Honda Civic. mine did the same thing it turned out to be a bad wiring at the motor which if i remember is in front of the right rear wheel it has 3 screws holding it in
