Rear Step - Rectangles?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Rear Step - Rectangles?

Post by Morganizer »

Does anyone know what the little rectangles that are separate pieces are for? I thought they covered screws, but when I tried to pry them out they were obviously not screw covers.

Are they for water drainage? Rubber thingees to help you grip when you step?

If I paint my rear step with Rocker Guard, am I going to defeat the purpose of these little rectangle things?

Those little black rectangles clip the bumper skin to the metal underneath. If you try and pry them out you will most likely damage them. You can get them out from the underside by pushing the clips together so they just slide out. If you spray it with rocker guard it just means it will be difficult if you ever need to remove the bumper skin.

All that being said I think I'm going to do the same thing to mine after I'm done some painting and repairs.

I painted over them with krylon fusion spraypaint myself. Didn't figure I was going to need to take that step off any time soon.

At first when I read your post and I thought you were talking about THESE rectangles:

And not to hijack the thread, but now I'm curious if anyone knows what these rectangles are for?? Are they purely cosmetic, or are there lights on other models, or.......?

These other rectangles are the exit point for the L300 jet propulsion option. Very rare! :-D
