Re: Diesel versus Gasoline Delicas

I have imported several 3.0V6 L400`s and yes they are cheaper at auction but once in Canada they are more expensive to carryout all the necessary preventative maintenance to make it a reliable daily driver. Most of the owners of the 3.0 vans we have dealt with all say that the fuel mileage is around 24-27 MPG which is exactly what the diesel gets.

I am personally in the process of building a LWB gas van up for my daily driver, I find them more `peppy` on the highway, quieter in the cabin and also when driving up into Alberta in the winter there is not the need to plug it in below -10 degrees.

Parts are easy to find, we have everything on the shelf for V6`s, $750 for a radiator  we sell them brand new for only $280 and have ten in stock ?? Almost all engine components directly interchange with NA vehicles which makes basic maintenance very easy.

One of the nice things with the diesel vans is that they are generally a lot lower mileage coming out of Japan and seem to be in better general condition.

It makes no difference really between gas or diesel, in the end it comes down to owner preference. I personally like the quietness of the gas which is what sold me on one :-)
