Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

Post by Morganizer »

I bought a set of Trico Force wiper blades from Canadian Tire ($18.99 each -- so that's nearly 50 bucks with tax) and they perform very well. I can see!

They come with a kit of plastic parts to make them fit various vehicles, and I was pleased to find that they were reversible, so they do adapt to RHD L300's.

50 quid is a lot to spend, but they perform as promised, and fit without modification. They are all-plastic, and I am pleased with the quality of the plastic. We'll have to see over time how UV resistant that plastic is.

There are lots of wipers that fit L300. I just went to Wal-Mart and bought the cheapest ones they had. I think they were $12 each or something. Fit perfect, work great.

yup, $12, $50...... both will work exactly the same when new, both will have stiff rubber and better off replacing in about 6 months or so........ I shoot for the lower end. It's about as bad as people filling with more than regular gas (unless higher compression engine), if you like giving money away, I can give you my address...........

I used to buy the pricey ones, took me a couple years to pull my head out of my....... "save your money" and watch less commercials, or at least don't believe them

I'll see your cheapness and raise you a pinched penny:

I generally just buy the rubber inserts and hang on to the metal frames. Canadian tire usually hides them somewhere on the wiper rack, else princess auto or NAPA or something has them.

I did exactly that on my Delica......... I do not know if I miss them, but I find that they do not always have the replacement inserts available and they I look at the fuel and time factor to find them.........

The one time I did do that, only took a couple minutes per blade, pinch the sides together with pliers, remove retaining metal rods, blah blah blah. Worked well  $6 "ish" if I remember

Oh yeah? I break our my girlfriend's nail file and keep putting a new edge on the existing rubber, right down to the frame!

Or I go to Cdn Tire and get the $8.95 specials.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to replace the wipers on my 88 l300. I actually bought the trico replacements, but there is no way that i can see to make them fit. At the risk of sounding dumb(er), to replace the wiper, are you supposed to pull the pin out of the assembly at the end of the wiper arm, or is that whole assembly supposed to slide off the wiper arm?

I replaced mine a while ago. Don't remember anything special. Pull the arm back from the window, pivot the blade to form a T, push in on the retaining clip at the end of the arm (where the arm forms a U) and pull the blade down the arm slightly.

The blade should pop right off.

That's pretty much what the guys at Rising Sun said. They seemed confused that I thought I needed an adapter. I'm starting to suspect that maybe these aren't the original wiper arm assemblies or else I am missing something obvious, which wouldn't be the first time.

Here's what I've got. There doesn't appear to be a U in the wiper arm:

That look familiar to anyone? Is it an l400 arm maybe?

That *does* look familiar, I've definitely owned a car with that style wiper arm, but I don't recall what it was. I can even picture changing the blade holders: Push the little catch on the end, and the pin slides out.

My thought is that an '88 is fairly early, maybe wiper arm style was something they changed? I can't imagine wiper arms off something else would fit, surely the angle would be all wrong. L400 arms are *huge* so it's not that.

And now I'm having vague memories of un-bending the tabs to remove the nub to the end of the arm and drilling a hole in the arm so I could fit... something else. Aha! Toyota AW11 MR2. Yes. It had a pin arm, but in reverse like yours- the pin was on the wiper blade, not on the arm. I removed the end of the arm and turned it into a Bayonet arm, which worked with the wiper blade adapter I had. It was a bit loose though. (Most Delicas I've seen have J-hook arms)

Thanks Growler. At least I know I'm not going crazy. I'm in the middle of adapting :-D my blades to fit until I can order some J-hook arms.
