Edmonton/Stony Plain Shoutout...

Post by nomadman_eh »

Hullo everybody! So I think it is time to get serious about my delica. I have owned my delica for about a year and 3/4. It is a fairly sound machine (i think) i have gone on one major road trip 5000+ kms down the oregon coast and back. she works beautifully for the most part however there are some issues i need to address.

1. family has expanded to two boys and i now need more seatbelts in the back. mine is a very basic trim package from taiwan (left hand drive) and it only has one seat belt in the back on the middle center. i have aquired a set of belts from a wrecked delica and need to install some mounts.

2. while travelling at highway cruising speed, when you open a window, the negative pressure this creates, draws in exhaust and/or engine compartment fumes. so i need to seal her up better and possibly reexhaust her.

3. while attempting to pull my brother in law out of a mud pit, i ripped the rear bumper tube thingy off, and have since installed a trailer hitch. problem is that i think some of the spot welds were damaged when i ripped it off and the hitch is very flimsy. it needs reinforcing.

4. would like to add an aftermarket pop top as i have seen on a couple of delica's on this site.

5. would like to rearrage the interior for an optimal camping experience for a family of four.

i am a new member to delica canada and i will scour the site for any usefull information i can find relating to my specific problems and i would appreciate any helpful tips anyone can give me on any of those points. There is much more i want to do on my Delica but i might as well start there. Thanks in advance simply for the wealth of knowledge on this site. I'm hoping to bring my Delica to a whole new level of Multipurposfulness. :-D

Welcome to Delica Canada, Nomadman :M

Those vanity bumpers are nothing more than that and should not be used for tying off to. If you have had a trailer hitch bolted on then that should be more secure, to be sure. We look forward to hearing more about your wagon and adventures.

In Member Introductions there is a post called Welcome to Delica Canada: Read This Before You Do Anything. It serves for a general introduction and guide. Also be sure to keep an eye out for Delica Meets in Alberta. It's at these meets that one learns all sorts of things by personal shared experiences.

Happy Trails!

Falco.
