My search for 75w-85 oil for my L300's manual transmission and transfer case lead me to, well, my local Mitsubishi dealer. I bought five quarts of Mitsubishi MTF 75w-85 oil. There's nowhere on the bottle that it says GL-4 or GL-5, but I would assume this would be ideal for my '89 Delica.

I know it's recommended for a host of Mitsubishi-made vehicles, such as the EVO, 3000GT, and Eclipse.

Before I drain and fill with this stuff, can someone tell me if this is indeed the oil to use?

Crankshaft, I can't tell you if it's right or not but I'm in the same boat as you and will need to do this soon. I'm interested to see if this is the right stuff. Was it expensive?

It was about $15.50 usd per quart. I figure it's got to be GL4 if it's for a manual transmission.

IMO, the most important part is that it is labeled as MTF and not gear oil... GL-4/5 applies to both.
I would not put it in the transfer case if you have an LSD... You need the Diaqueen LSD 90w oil for that (and rear diff).

anybody have a pic of the LSD decal found in the van? I'm pretty sure my '88 doesn't have one but i'm curious as to what it looks like. Non-LSD and would use the same oil in the transfer as the Trans right?

The sticker would be on the rear diff filler plug, but they go missing easily. You can jack both rear wheels in the air and then rotate one forward... if the other turns forward it is an LSD, if the other turns backwards it is not. Or you can just get into some mud/soft ground and see if it will dig dual ruts :-D .

If it's non LSD, then the transfer case should use the same oil as the transmission.
From the manual (for manual transmission/non-LSD).
