Re: Oil drip - catch tray or drip tray
I used a piece of cardboard on my parking spot until I had all the leaks fixed. Fixing all the leaks was frustrating and cost thousands but it's been totally dry since.

Re: good-bye
On extremely slippery black ice at highway speeds my van likes to go instantly, wildly sideways at the slightest provocation. It's because the rear end is too light when the van is empty. It's a good tip to throw a few sandbags or something to add weight in the back as well as running your tires a l...

Re: Turbo Diesel's unaffected by altitude (proof provided)
You're absolutely right Green1. I regularly take my van up mountains and I also notice a bit longer turbo lag with resulting smoke ie runs rich. Cold start behavior is also different but of course that's before the turbo starts to create boost ie also rich. Normal driving with the turbo spooled up i...

Re: Small nuisance oil leak
I had a leak from the front crankshaft seal and the oil did not spread to the belts and pulleys. I also had a leak from the gasket behind the housing that contains the front seals. It's damned hard to get a light and eyeball in there to see where it's coming from without a hoist, one of those skinny...

Re: no rear heat
There must be a heater control valve in there somewhere. You might want to check if the rear heat control is turning the valve on and off.

Re: Wiper drive hubs.
Take another look. You're probably trying to pry up the saddle the nut tightens down on. The rubber boot should pry up easily with your fingernail or small screwdriver. Call me if you need more help. 604-985-9708

Re: Wiper drive hubs.
Don't take your dash apart as they tighten from the outside. I tightened mine by prying up the rubber boot just under the wiper arm enough to see the nut and get a wrench on. It might be easier to take the wiper arm off first but mine are seized pretty bad and I didn't want to take the chance of bre...

Re: Oil Leak(s)
Mine was dripping oil as well so I had the $700 leaky turbo fix done. Got home and found it still dripping :o but now that the engine was clean could see that it was coming from the front seals. Had that fixed and found another leak from the bottom of the dipstick and changed the o-ring. Got home an...
