Re: Project Dino Evo - How we build our camper van

fexlboi, I have been reading your website with interest (especially the insulation bit) and made use of some of your very useful info .... Thanks  ! I am in the process of converting 'The Black Van' into a campervan and I have fitted a 'mushroom' vent to the roof. My reason for fitting it was ...

Quite right Bob..... About 17 years ago I owned an 1981 L300 2WD van and that had no 'dips' in the side windows.

Re: gear changing on an automatic

Another point about using brakes for long periods on long downhill roads is if the brakes overheat in extreme cases it can cause the brake fluid to boil. If that happens your brake pedal will become spongy and will need to be 'pumped' to get any pressure or may even lose brakes altogether! B...

Barry, Your comments are coming across as nitpicking and somewhat condescending. This is a forum where people try to help one another in friendly manner. Bob Bob, I am :o and quite :-( at your response as I was only trying to help in (what I thought was) a friendly manner. I apologise if it has com...

Re: Injector pump tips and tricks

....Cold starting, hard starting, stalling after starting problems. This is often related to the lift pump not being able to deliver fuel pressure when cold (bad seals), but works good when warm. This from a fellow on one of the UK groups. He installed a used inline electric fuel pump from a car ne...

Re: Clock removal

I've taken one out ......... but not certain how I did it now! I think if you take the radio out you can get your fingers or a screwdriver up behind it and squeeze together the spring clips (there's one each side of the clock) and then pull the clock out. To replace it you just push it back in the h...

and the '89 looks nice and lean and clean. I like the minimalist bullbar. And, as skidplates are all the rage this week, I couldn't help but notice your shiny red one. BTW did you alter the front rads or are they not standard with that model? I don't see them hanging as usual. --Todd The skidplates...

I believe those bullbars were originally made for a Pajero/Shogun but the person who owned them had them adapted to fit the Delica and when he sold his Delica for an L400 he sold me the bullbars! :-D

Re: clutch hard to press! (5spd)

I don't have a manual, but I seem to remember reading that the clutch is hydraulic, not cable operated ....! I just checked the wife's Delica (which is a manual 'box) and you're quite correct! The clutch IS hydraulic so you can ignore what I said about the cable! I must have been getting mixed up w...

Re: clutch hard to press! (5spd)

I would guess that as you say you have done some 'water crossings' you've probably got water into the clutch cable which has washed out some of the grease (lube) and making it stiff to operate.

Re: LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL MODEL??

The L300 Delica does not have a centre differential (the L400 does). When 4WD is selected on an L300 the front axle is locked to the rear axle so front and rear wheels turn at exactly the same speed. The front axle has a diff and the rear axle has a diff this allows left wheels to rotate at differen...
