Yes it runs fine for those 2 minutes and then starts having trouble. Lately I have been running 2 glow plug sequences to allow the van to warm up a bit before driving it and it helps quite a bit.

Hey guys, having some trouble with cold weather starts like many others. in temperatures above -15c the van will start fine until the glow plugs turn off then it will chug and spit out some black soot along with some dark smoke. I have been having rough cold starts for a while now (spitting out black smoke and soot, shutting off if gas isn't pushed through the engine). I've had my glow plugs tested and changed and the IP seals changed and no change. It also seems to get really bad after the glow plugs turn off on the third ...

I am having the same problems with my 4m40 deli. I have had the glow plugs changed and new seals put in the IP. If you figure it out please let me know.

There are also two shops in the north east, Harbour auto, pro-active, i have gotten work done at both and would suggest either of them anytime!

If the air filter doesn't work and your problem gets worse it could be your fuel pump seal, mine went on me and I had the same issue, it could also be a glow plug issue.

I have the same issue and have had a few things done to try to fix it. Last resort for me is the front pump seal which I am going in to get changed in a week. I'll let you know the outcome.
