Just wondering if there are any "Tricks" when changing a C.V. Shaft. I haven't come across anything in the archives. Any input would be appreciated. :-)

It's not easy.

Drivers side is easier because the inner flange bolts to the diff.

When I do them, the spindle knuckle and hub assembly has to come off.

You can't remove the CV axle without removing the upper balljoint and tierod. You may have to remove the lower balljoint as well.

Have a massive hammer available and be prepared to have to replace the balljoints and tierods if they are no good.

Usually takes me a few hours per side.

I like doing all the mechanical work on my rigs, but this one is nice if someone can do it. It's a pain. :M

Hi guys, just spotted your thread here.
Check out this guide on MDOCUK, should have what you're after. I've done the job myself and a couple of bits were much easier with this guide!
Cheers
Ian
