Hey Guys,
Does anyone have experience in fitting a roof rack from a 92 pajero to a 92 delica?
eyeballing it, I think it will fit...
it looks like it will clear the hight roof, and looks to be about the same width..... this is what I am not sure about...

Pajero roof gutters are approx 6" (15cm) narrower than L300's but some racks can be adjusted for width or sometimes the feet can be bent to allow wider gutters.
Do you know what rack it is? (Genuine Mitsy? Jaos? Aiba?)
The other issue is that a lot of Pajero racks will not actually fit high roof L300's (width issues aside)
I have had my hands on a LOT of Aiba Works racks and only about 10% have fitted L300's without quite a bit of modification (and I do mean QUITE a bit!)
Jaos racks (quite a bit of experience with these too) will fit more easily because the feet can be bent or even replaced with longer ones quite easily if they are too short.
Genuine Mitsy racks I have had very little dealing with, but their construction is a lot more like Joas than Aiba, so could probably be adapted more easily.
A common route taken by L300 owners in the UK is to buy a rack and find it doesn't actually fit....then remove the feet and bolt it to some roof bars. Certainly a 'solution' but I personally don't think it is as elegant as carefully adapting a rack to fit while making it look as original as possible.
Here in the UK proper L300 racks as VERY hard to find (esp. Aiba ones) so I guess I am one of the lucky ones because I picked up one 4 years ago and will not be parting with it anytime soon!
If you find a good rack - snap it up and hang onto it!

until you've tried to find L300 accessories in Canada I don't think you quite comprehend how hard it can be to find them... It gets easier every day, but you guys are years ahead of where we are over here!

you have to be carefull, the roof really climbs high from front to back, we stoped trying to make racks fit and just build our own from scratch, but each bracket will hold over 500lbs , a bit over kill , but you sure dont have to worry about over loading them, your more likely to blow shocks than our roof racks lol
here is an example I like to call, Ours vs theirs

be carefull if you go with the uber expensive max weight of 50lbs you can buy from your local sveed shop.. 50lbs isent alot of weight lol

but each bracket will hold over 500lbs
but how much will the gutters themselves hold in that surface area?

well on one set of roof racks with a saffari rack on them we have put 600lbs of gym weights and even given it a good shake side to side, then with me climing up onto the rack to pass the weights down thats an aditional 190 lbs on top, to if you overload your rain gutters then you have really really packed some weight on your roof, maybe not the best thing to do when cornering on a tall narrow van, but the racks sure held. and I was very happy.

Do you sell your brackets? and if so, for how much? I didn't see them for sale on your website...

we dont sell the brackets seperatly, as they are actually Tig welded to be one piece, so what you get is the crossbar and brackets for each side, but its all 6061-t6 aircraft grade aluminium its a bit decieving from the pict, but its one piece so nothing come apart.
I had them on the site just befor we went to japan, but we sell out as soon as we make them , we have one set for a low roof van ready to go, but we just got back a few days ago and havent started welding anything yet.
in the next couple weeks we will have roof racks and a our own version of bull bars up on our site. if you want anything custom done let me know, its alot easier to put mods into the racks during production than after.

Here's the stock Ski Rack that came with the Chamonix with the Pod from my car on it, not the greatest but will do. (Not easy to access, the rack does not lock to the gutters, and because it angles in like that you can only mount 1 POD, with the modern systems you could get 2 Pods on.) At least it color matches, that's just a happy co-incidence.

Mmmm, nice rack.
That rack, and the cross members, look similar in design to full sized van ladder racks mounts. Very Nice, bet it's way stronger then the roof it's mounted to. My quest for the right rack is tough (down right impossible), with my narrow set of design perimeters/requirements and my current limited budget. Plenty of junk out there,
see here, that wouldn't last long against the inevitable branch across my roof. Will keep regularly browsing classifieds or crossing fingers for large stock price jump.
Think you missed a dirty spot on the Delica Andy, you can see it right there below the.........

Thats ok, I wasent going to say anything, Ive allready had one email asking if I have a new partner named Sean lol
Glad you like the rack, we have actually started making a different mounting bracket, and ya these are what we call "stupid strong"

The rain gutters are not that strong. My surco rack busted them in 4 places with my spare tire on top (about 70lbs im guessing, mayb 80 or 100 or 60 Its just a guess) HOwever i believe they were weakened by backing into something with just the rack, I saw some bending but nothing broke. I am going to get a rod welded between the mounts on each side so it sits in the rain gutter and spreads out the weight.
I still love those racks though noel, wanna talk about building lights into them?

Wow that looks great! I might just have to do that.... and I like Adrocks's idea of some lights.....
Can I ask what you did to your wheels? they look great! The clear coat on mine is kinda milky looking now :(
During your travels are you ever in Courtenay?
Cheers,
