David in Courtenay

Hi. My name's David and I have a 91 Star Wagon on the way. I live in Courtenay and I'm considering modifying the vehicle to run on WVO. I recently lost some of my enthusiasm after reading that WVO horror story. Does anyone have any redeaming thoughts or experiences to share?
I understand there is business in Campbell River that will do the conversion for somewhat over $2000. How much less would it be to do it oneself?

I did my installation for about $900 given all the misc. parts I've added, like:
- Plant Drive kit
Aux Electric Fuel Pump
50' of fuel / coolant hose
wires and connectors
etc....
I've outlined most of the installation here:

There are several other good descriptions of WVO installations on the site as well, that if taken together should provide a balanced view of the process. You should also know that the sum total of my automotive service experience prior to this project was changing my oil, and badly at that.

the key thing to learn from the WVO horror story is that the guy who wrecked his engine didn't do ANY de-watering to his waste oil... so make sure there's no water and otherwise well filtered and you shouldn't have that kind of problem.
