Nope, because as far as I am concerned, adding a second shifter doesn't fall in to the "minor" category. Everything posted here so far only goes to prove that this is NOT an easy project and is in fact very much a "major" mod.
ANYTHING is possible, you could turn a Delica in to a submarine or an airplane with enough mods, that doesn't mean that it's practical.

Major or Minor is in the experience of the person.
However the Delica stock transfercase is capable of running a PTO if one wants.
Personally< I have no interest in a PTO winch....But, a twin stick transfercase would be worth the time in the future.

I'm way behind on reading the forum, and just read this thread. But I heard about it a couple of weeks ago. Okay, some of you really need to play nice in the sandbox.
Everyone seems to be missing the very obvious. The CASE of the transfer case has a port that clearly IS intended for a PTO. That DOES NOT mean that the GUTS of the transfer case, gearing, rails, etc., of the Delica's transfer case can possibly use it.
After all this discussion and searching, only one person has shown that one person in Germany has succeeded in a Pajero.
On my 1982 Subaru's transfer case, I could find a spot in the shift lever between 4H and 4L where the tc was in a neutral spot with no output. But the slightest nudge of the lever would result in grinding. I'm pretty sure the Delica is the same.
So what a Delica would need is a shifter with a specific N location, as fexlboi's photos show. Then the guts of the tc also need the right gears in the right spot that a PTO's gear could mate to.
My guess is that the Pajeros with a factory PTO have different guts in the tc.
The most useful reason for a PTO would be to run a hydraulic pump for a winch, but you can do that a lot easier by tapping into the power steering, which is already a hydraulic pump.
And finally, if jfarsang says it isn't practical, it ain't practical. If he hasn't done it, then I take it that it can't reasonably be done.

A Mile Marker hydraulic winch would be better suited or practical for a small vehicle like the Paj/Monty/Delica.
They've been around for a long time and used in military apps.

Google Translate From Original German Post wrote:Hello all
at the PTO is an addition which is flanged on the side of intermediate.
The drive can in principle be angflanscht every ZG whether with or without the N position. The difference is in the ZG, with or without neutral basically just a notch in the shift linkage in the (in all SG's) existing spring-loaded balls into place and secure the rod axially in the respective switch position (2WD, 4H or 4L). After removing the rods can be to insert between the "Normalkerben" an extra notch and is replaced by a neutral position. With the change to short dei ZG translation, I have exchanged one such linkage in my L300 ZG. It is from an L040 Bj 88th
The PTO commerce Ain the utmost are rare. I had some time ago one seen in an Australian forum.

ah yes, the "minor" mod that involves taking the whole transfer case apart and adding a second shift lever... "minor"... yeah...

I don't think PTO is at all a minor mod, I was thinking though if it has been done on a Paj or some Pajs had it stock? would it not be "relatively" simple to put a Paj Transfer case in (if it already has PTO is makes the whole thing easier, still not a minor mod imo)

I figure if it has already been done on an L300 it ought to be doable on my L300.
As far as the Paj is concerned ~ they use the same drive train as the L300. I can't for the life of me see why Mitsubishi would take the same transfer case from the same drive train and use different gearing on some. The logistics would be a nightmare and the cost would be prohibitive on that scale of manufacturing.

Falco: you think it's easy. You can be the first Canadian to do it.

Actually, using the same case with different guts reduces the cost and logistics.
Oh, and since when do manufacturers make sense? How about the Geo Tracker, Asuna Sunrunner, Chevy Tracker. All the same thing. Just the Asuna brand alone is proof that manufacturers are nuts.
How about the GM's J platform, which included Pontiac J2000/2000/Sunbird, Chevrolet Cavalier, Olds Firenza, Buick SKyhawk, Cadillac Cimarron, Opel Ascona, Vauxhall Cavalier, Isuzu Aska, Holden Camira, and more. Don't you think the cost of badges alone would have made it more sensible to have only 1 name?
Let's stop flogging this dead horse and declare it theoretically possible, apparently done once, but not worth the bother.

In case someone on this side of the world want to proof a PTO winch can be done on a l300.
Here are your first parts:
