claude,
as i see it , it was hot wired even there is a relay, i fix 5 units of those kind of hot wired you show now.
its not compatible for this delica to do this way, it works temporary but wont last long.
almost burn the complete unit. this hot wired goes 12V continues when drving drL on day time.
too much jiuce coming out from alterantor and wont last long.
to hot to handle end of the day. the relay or wire inside cannot take it some time and could cause fire hazard in the complete electrical wiring.
take it out and do diff way.
thats why i do LED DRL to all of my delica to avoid this problem which led use only 2w not full voltage 12V.
which is very good for DRL and last longer and safe. even you spend a little more more. its worthed
not the cheap way like this hot wired.
both L300 and L400 LED i used never have a single complaine or comeback. all good and a happy customer. less headache.
if you are in vancouver pls let me know and i can help you to install this DRL of yours in the right and proper way for DRL.

thank you Mardy but I hardly go to Vancouver anymore . I need to fix the problem myself because there is no meccanich shop around the area where I live. i just need to know where to connect the wire.

Thank for the link, it does help but does not got any info about wiring

try to take out the relay and see from there.
if it works then replace the relay,

Hi Claude - You have identified the DRL module. You should be able to look at the wiring and determine how to remove the module and splice everything back together - back to the stock state. You will have to turn your lights on and off manually again. Buy a set of LED DRLs. Then you just have to chose an appropriate circuit that is powered when the ignition is on, and splice into it to power the LEDs. The LEDs draw very little current - someone may have some advice as to how to identify an appropriate wire. I added an inline fuse at this point, but I don't think everyone does this.

If this seems intimidating, then you should probably find someone to help you, or pay someone to do it. It's not a tough job, but does require some basic knowledge. Is this the kind of info you were looking for? Christine (tardisdeli), is your best bet if you have a specific question - she and Jay are very knowledgeable, and nice too.

I think your "relay" is the DRL. My knowledge is pretty much limited to my own two vans, and it looks pretty small for a DRL, but I'm sure someone here could confirm this.

With a test light, you can find the correct one that provides voltage when the key is in the 'on' position, does not provide voltage when the key is 'off' and in accessories mode 'acc'.

I use that to tap into for the DRL with an inline 10amp fuse and standard relay.

This puts the DRL's on it's own circuit and won't affect the headlights or switch.

Another easy way to tap into a Hot-on-Run circuit for DRLs that is completely reversible and requires no messing with existing wires is to locate a suitable circuit in the external fuse box and use an ATC parasite tap. Something like the 'charging' circuit but it can be anything that is 12V when key is in teh on position and 0V in any other position.

Normally you would install the tap on the side of the fuse before the existing load and add another inline fuse for your new circuit but you can install on the fused side for simplicity because you will not be drawing much current to power the relay trigger or LEDs depending on how simple of a setup you go with.

Those options would be
1) power LEDs directly, normally would never do this but LEDs use so little power you could; DRLs ON whenever car running.
2) power LEDs through single relay, circuit used for the relay trigger; DRLs on whenever car running.
3) twin relays, second relay wired into headlamp circuit and cuts power to DRLs when turned on; DRLs ON whenever headlamps OFF)
