That's one cool operator: "Rupert, ist alles 'okay'?"

"Yah, wunderbar."

I've watched excavators from time to time, and I'm not sure what the practical application of those skills would be - other than climbing up the side of a rock face to a ledge and then excavating - but it's pretty neat just the same!

BTW: was that the Spice Girls?

How does he get down?

Just a reversal of the "going up".

I showed this to by brother who was (back in the day) an excavator operator. His view.......with the special "shovel" and "hooks", once the boom or the body was locked in, there was no way the machine would fall. Impressive operator nonetheless. He reserved his loudest applause to the welder who made the brackets that could hold the 20+ ton machine out on the end of the boom and then the trust of the operator in the welder!!!
