The forum seems a bit slow lately, so I thought that this subject may stimulate some conversation.
So, what is your "dream ride"? I always wanted a porshe cayene turbo, but obviously that is a bit out of reach.
I remember the first time I ever seen a delica, it was in a parking lot, I spent 10 minutes admiring it, and wondering WTF!? since then I knew that it was for me. What was your first deli sighting? who is the senior delica man here...jfarsang?
Right now in my life, I can honestly say that there IS NO OTHER vehicle I would rather have than my deli, no matter what the value, seriously what else compares? a vw unimog maybe

Hey Buddy,
Glad to hear your ride is there and you are enjoying it. My car was taken in to the shop today to be 'fixed' and hope to get it back at the end of the week. I'm enjoying it a lot too!
I've had a lot of interesting cars but this one fits our life style the most. I also kept the 1987 745Volvo wagon (416,000Kmhs) which I have enjoyed too.
Take care,
EN

A lot depends on what the dream ride is for.
As a little city runabout, I could go for a Renault Twingo, or something like that cute little Fiat Barchetta Richard Hammond drove across Iraq.
As a quirky interesting car, either a Citroen CX or a Tatra 603.
As a long-distance cruiser, Jaguar XJS.
And so on...

Nothing tops my Delica for Dream ride. Always wanted a Subaru Outback or Forester but that desire has long passed. The WV Camper Van was up there too, but now when I pass them rocketing up the Coquihalla I feel sorry for them.

My L-300 is my dream ride. Was long before I even knew they existed... "Oh if only the Japanese made a 4x4 bus!"
Saw my first one parked on the side of the road just north of the Oyster River bridge near Campbell River with a 4 sale sign. Stopped for a sniff and maybe 6 or 8 months later bought the one I have now.
Look under "Drivers - date joined" for the oldest driver here - you can look for most posts too.
Aren't Unimogs made by Mercedes still, or did VW buy em'?

Three vehicles I drooled over: '68 Chevy Short Box Van; Aston Martin Lagonda Vantage; Vicker's Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX. Not likely going to get a Spitfire, maybe if I win the lotto. Aston Martin..... cool car, great chick magnet... maybe if I win the lotto. Chevy Van.... well..... I gotta be honest ~ and I know this might sound ... well... When I originally wanted the '68 Chevy Van I thought wouldn't it be cool if it were 4WD & diesel.
Fast forward 35 years I got my dream car. Looks like a '68 Short box, plus she's diesel & 4WD! Built like an aircraft (five radiators and a Spitfire style cockpit, aircraft mags ~ although lacking the Browning 303s & Hispano 20mm guns). Attracts chicks like you wouldn't believe, takes me places that the other three couldn't.
I'm pretty happy overall.
If I suddenly got a few million bucks... I would still see if I could find a Spitfire...
Falco.

Favourite vehicles ranked in order of price.
- Delica L300
- Mazda RX8
- Mitsubishi Evo X
- Nissan GTR
- Pagani Zonda F Roadster
I wouldn't replace the Delica with any of those though as it's in a completely different league. I like the look of 'classic' cars as well but there would be too long of a list.

Other than my L400?
I would have to pick an Ariel Atom with supercharger and the big-brake pack.

Mine would be a seventies Toyota Landcruiser, and a 1979 lime green VW Westy with those ugly green plaid seats, oh and a 69 vw with split window
I first spotted an L300 in Goderich Ontario and my first thought was, " that is the ugliest coolest vehicle I have ever seen!" A few weeks later there was one for sale near where I live. After a few test drives and my wife's full support we purchased it.

Shizen!
That 4x4 is rad, is that a joint venture between lambo/toyata? I heard something about that once & always wondered.
Love the tire size, wonder how big they are.
Also tell me about stretch, or post a link from previous thread, you made it yourself? is it road legal?
