Just had the Deli tune from CVI.

Had not dealt with the shop before, so as is my nature, I was suspicious. I looked with a flashlight when I picked up the van last night, and could not see any evidence the fuel injectors had been out (I had the intercooler off the day before). Talked to Butch, he assured me he had done the work. Kind of feel like an ass on this, but I have had shops charge for work that was not done before.

Pre tune: Huge clouds of black then white smoke on startup, would not start in -8 without serious cranking.

Pre tune with new glowplugs: Started right ayay, but clouds of black, then white smoke until warm up.

Post tune: Started right away, very little smoke.

Highly recomend. My neighbors thank you, Butch.

Cost: $390.

I have had the same experience. Got the deli tune and major decrease in smoke on start up. Had Butch install a block heater for me yesterday. Plugged it in last night and man what a difference that makes!!!!!!!!! Just do it.

Good call, if only I had power where I park.

dasein - I'm guessing from your post that you too are in the Vancouver area; curious why you'd feel the need for a block heater?

Out here on the Wet Coast she should start up just fine in the cold, even in the "dead of winter" (prarie-types can start chuckling now...)

Block heaters are awesome even out here on the west coast. Plug it in anytime it's near or below freezing and yer bus will flash up without any grumbling - Smooth, easy starts make for a happy, long lasting motor...

I am in Squamish, but would like to plug it in at the ski hill (usually Whistler). I agree, they start, but they do warm faster coming off the block heater.

I am also in Squamish and have to tell you that the block heater is great. It is definitely cold enough here to warrant one. Even when it's not that cold, like last night, I plug it in anyway. I put it on a timer to turn on about 2-3 hours before I head to work. Then when I get up at stupid o'clock in the morning it's a quick warm up and away I go. If you have a place to plug in, again, highly recommended!
