Hi,
I would like to post info and questions in this thread about our plan to take Deli around the world.
I have seen few posts about people planning to take Deli for similar trip, but unfortunately they are not any info if someone actually did it.
I will mention just first stage, because we will have money only for this, at the moment.
Our plan is to ship car to Australia, spend 12 months driving around, than go to New Zealand, South Korea, from there ship car to Russia and go through Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan back to London.
Our aim is to build car, which will be comfortable on the road, which can handle some dirt tracks and will be our comfortable home.
We are starting with lift kit. We have brought JAOS lift kit from Japan. It is 2'' lift and pictures are here
http://delica.rajce.idnes.cz/JAOS_lift_kit/
I will really appreciate any comments, suggestions, questions, advice, criticism,.......

Great idea! I have been toying with a similar idea. One thing you need to consider is tolls on roads & driving privileges in different countries, i.e.; not sure if China recognises any driving licenses outside of China. I would plan rough time schedules for each county. Really I would just want to save up a whole wad of cash and just drive where my heart took me but I am not so sure how currently viable that idea is (although I always keep it in mind). So maybe visit the country's embassy of where you plan on going with a list of logistical queries.
Falco.

We are planning to leave in 2012. I do need just international driving license and to buy insurance usualy in border crossing.
We need visa as well, but it should not be a problem, just hope we can get 1year Australian visa. We do not plan visit China, former SSSR is much more tempting for us.
I can speak russian, so it will be a big advantage when we meet locals.

Get in touch with
delicaclub.ru and
delicaclub.kz. Become a member, introduce yourself and you can get any info you need regarding your trip. Also they have a sticky thread
Help provided by club members where club members post their phone numbers for emergency situations. Read their travel stories to get an idea what to expect on border crossings, dealing with local cops etc. i.e. how much to pay to avoid any troubles. The guys on these forums are great and pretty much straightforward. We have at least 2 of them registered in our forum; Vitaly, delicaclub.ru admin and NAKAMI from Vladivostok.

I have some news about our trip.
Because we have to have visa for Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and some of them are valid just certain period from date of issue, we will have to do our trip other way round. Drive from UK through former SSSR, Mongolia and then from South Korea ship car to OZ. Australian visa are valid 12 months from date of issue, during this time we have to enter OZ, which mean, we can obtain all visa before we leave Uk and have one year to get to Australia .
I have got offer to meet with members of Russia and Kazkhstan Delica club..so it is great.
We will start our trip in March 2012.

kamil, traveling across Russia it is necessary to consider the big distances when on 300 km there will be no telecommunication. Be expensive thus can not the best quality. There are sites when for light day probably to pass no more than 250 km. Take a repair set for tires, a tooling, mount, a towing cable. Unpack the list of phones which is laid out at us at a forum.

Can anyone explain how the repair kit for tires work and where I can buy one. I was told, there is no chance to repair tires on the road .
Thanks

Hey Kamil!
In the old days flat tires were repaired using a plug with a rubber adhesive. We can still buy these kits here in Canada and they come with a round rasp (spelling?) which you push through the hole to prepare the tire for taking the plug and adhesive. The plug is then inserted into the hole with another tool designed to release the plug allowing the tool to be removed. An on-board air compressor will give you the ability to re-inflate. This method of repair is not done professionally here any more but is a good stand-by for emergency situations - I carry one of these kits with me all the time. A tire with a minor tear in it would be more difficult to repair on the road as you would likely have to repair from inside the tire. There are also tire repair cannisters that inject a foam into the tire via the valve stem. Any of these methods should help you get to a repair place to have the tire repaired properly or replaced (the eventual cost of a tire is much less than having to be towed IF you can find a tow or risk of personal harm in an emergency). You will, of course, be carrying at least one spare which should really match the size, type and quality of tires that are on the bus so you can swap and go when the need arises.
