v8 van
HI Im Stan from new zealand,i have a 1994 delica l300 model.I have recently fitted a lexus v8 and auto and its mint!Sorry in advance to all you harcore 4wdrivers but i didnt keep the 4wd system as the van is used only onroad, but it could of easily been done.loosing all that front end weight has made the van handle on the road very well and ive fitted some 20inch wheels with 275 45 tyres looks great. The van is used manly for transporting my 4 kids and their bmx bikes all over nz for racing, the height off the road appelled too me for safty and now has the power to keep it out of trouble [or in it depending on whose perspectie]I will post pictures as soon as my daughter shows me how!
Re: v8 van
Sounds like a big job. Where abouts are you in NZ? Can't wait to see the pixs.

Re: v8 van
I wouldn't jump the gun too quick, I have seen a couple V8 (lexus/toyota and LS1) and V6(Holden/Buick) L300's here in NZ.Firesong wrote:Hmm I just put a V12 out of a Jag in mine....

EDIT: infact its almost the same as this one
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 422326.htm v6 one
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 559321.htm v8 one
but unfortunately doesn't look like much space for a 4wd system.

Re: v8 van
L300 have lots of room for other motors, you just need a welder.
For all over the world, I would go Mercedes OM617 turbo diesel with a few mods. Great motor. Cast iron head and block really can take abuse. Or maybe a Hino motor?
Problem with the 300L is rear drive shaft length does not leave much room for drive-train length.

Re: v8 van
Yes theres not much room for 4wd but it can be done toyota hilux rear trans housing bolts onto lexus then your away would need a rear sump model lexus for front diff clearence (i have front sump)was considering this as my mate owns a auto trans shop and has done this to hilux but idont use offroad .yes there is one other van in nz with a lexus 2wd .These moters are just great far more economical than the diesel i sit on 2300rpm at 100ks and it huals all the way to 6000rpm limits come in at 7000!ive only been to 4000 in top dont stop all that well from there need brake upgrade but at normal speeds its just fine.we had a major earthquake here 7.1 and had to move family towed tandem furniture trailor full and honestly didnt know it i recomend this upgrade to anyone looking for a bit more ps sounds great too.

Ok, my bad.
Sounded a little unlikely but I recognize when I've put
my foot in my mouth.

Re: v8 van
I still think a Rolls Royce Merlin 61 V12 (27 litre/ two stage super charger) would look very good in an L300.
