My name is Dan, I live south of Vancouver, & I have been lurking on this forum for about a month or so, & am absolutely aghast that the US will NOT allow these awesome vans in!! I want an L300 SO bad...

How far "south of Vancouver"? I'm guessing 48-something degrees North, in a province-like-region that's pronounced "Washington"?
If the answer is yes, you can thank the muscle cars of the 70s - there were afraid of a European invasion of better performing cars...

You are absolutely correct!
I think the Diesel GM fiasco of the 70's/80's scared them away from Diesels for a while, too...

Hi Guys, it is difficult to Assimilate the 2 vans into one, Glen tried it, almost impossible even with his experts. Interior subfloor differs, so the body doesnt swap in. The underframes are not the same, thus cutting and welding was hard as nothing lined up to weld together. Because the frames differ, just trying to put the engine in meant making all new area to bolt the engine and the gizillion bits onto. Transmission doesnt fit into the hole. Where to put the steering system so it can link up to the other stuff. Yeah, I know it looks easy, and we crawled around the 2 vehicles side by side beforehand with great excitement, and envisioned what to do, which parts to take from each vehicle, it all appeared very workable, but when the actual cutting started then the problems became evident. Sad, so sad. Christine and Jay.

Of course! You know, I honestly think the US needs to stop trying to suppress imports... Lots of foreign companies & importers have fled the US because of the ridiculous safety requirements/emissions laws here.

I have a curiosity question... Would you allow a relative stranger from the US sans Delica to come to a get-together up there, to get to know the rest of the forum, check out the Delicas, Pajeros, ETC?

Only if you learn Canadian English first.
Of course you can attend! Just because you don't have a vehicle doesn't mean you can't come look at all of ours. And all the things you'll learn from attending will get you ready for the '85s that'll be available to you for next year, or the '86s for 2012.
