L400 front suspension "clunk"

I'll try to describe it a bit better. I get an occasional clunk/bump feeling through the floorboards where my left foot rests while driving and going over some bumps. I can also hear a slightly different sound than the normal suspension compression when it happens. It's very intermittent and barely noticeable. If my left foot is at rest on the "pedal" footrest I don't even notice it. My foot needs to be on the floorboard for me to feel it. I also can't figure out a pattern for the type of road bump that causes it either.

So any suggestions on where to look first? I haven't had a chance to jack the front end up and feel around for any unwanted movement, but I will in the next few days. I won't be driving it until the usual weekend soccer dad routine.

Thanks,
Shane

i would check the front sway bar link first, that is the most common, if not it might be the lower control arm bushings.

There are a number of things to check on the suspension for noises.
Front sway bar end links,Sway bar mounting bushes,Upper and lower ball joints,Front shock bushes and lower control arm bushes.
Happy hunting!

I had the same issue when I bought my L400 last year. Mardy @ Amazing Auto corrected the problems by replacing the bushings. Problem solved and no more clunking sounds when I hit a bump.
