Just came across Super Exceeded's blog and at first I thought it's a joke, but I guess he is pretty serious about his project. Anyway if you do crazy stuff like that and join the forum, you should introduce yourself

Truth is I was hoping to keep it a secret until it was finished, but my lady, ever the marketer put the sight up last night. You guys are quick. But I did write a post in the introduction string when I joined.

We start the lift tomorrow. I am hoping to make the whipsaw trip but its going to be tough.

If you guys haven't added me on Twitter, I would have not known it.
I guess the rear axle is not connected to the drive shaft, right? That's quite ambitious project you have, even more ambitious is to go on the Whipsaw with it.
Another reason for me to come along.

With all that extra weight, yur gonna need braking power. I suggest the upgrade.

I still have the front half.

There is a little extra weight, but by our calculations, we've really only added the weight of three adults.

Having said that, we are looking at bigger brakes, in addition, the second rear axle will be powered (but at a later date).

At the moment it's a little sticky, but the rear axles have yet to be brought closer together. That will happen over the next couple of days. From having driven it now for about a week, I do not expect any issues once the axles are moved. I am working on a rear torsion setup that will allow the second axle to turn in the event that things do not work as I expect.

Wow!....I think Batman said it best when he exclaimed "HOLY BATF**K!!!!...!!!....I feel so inadequate! This one time I totally changed my tires all by myself! This is Ri-freaking-diculous! Good luck with the project! It's not a bad. first effort....I just came up with my new project! I'm going to combine my '69 Skylark GS350 and the front half of my '96 4runner with my Delica in the middle. The end product will have 3 engines with roughly around 500 combined bhp and 5 axles....It's going to be pretty sweet! It will probably be done for the labour day weekend.

How do you intend to drive the rear-most axle? Is there something from the likes of a Canter you intend to drop in there?

you'll just have to wait and see. I won't be doing that right away, gotta watch the pennies a little bit!

Did you weld to the unibody/chassis ?

Will you have to change the vehicle rating/axle, etc.. for insurance ?

For the whipsaw, it will buck your Delica a lot. I'm assuming you know what you're doing (I would not ) so that the shell wouldn't crack or break off the rear.

We'd like to travel the world (although I would have preferred 5 star cruises) but I will submit (limited time offer only!) to Super Exceeded's way of travel for now ;)

At least I don't have to sleep in a tent anymore and worry about bears in BC.

I had the entire 5th grade at the local elementay school chewing bubble gum for me over the last 3 months. But seriously, the frame was notched and welded, I spent two days drilling out the spot welds via the driprail to allow for rewelding using the original metal. The five foot overhang of the roof adds a lot more stregth then would a straight box cut weld. In addition the rear lift will include an entire subframe. I'm not too worried about the integrity of the van, but this is why we will run it locally, like whipsaw a few times before we head off Continent with it.

No as explained above each was kept seperate as was the original design.

nope, checked with a local inspector before I started the build, and as long as the second axle is not driven (on provincial roads) all's ok. Therefore the delay in driving the second axle, I need to find my loophole.
