Odd that they plated the front 3 windows but left all the other fragile rear windows just open.
Seems like it's really just done for looks and not 'real' functionality.
The pictures are great. Photographer did an amazing job.

either the plates are for plowing through hordes of zombies, and only needed for the front, (yes, real functionality) or as it says somewhere in there, 'we only had two days to build it', so they probably just ran out of time.
I want to see that movie now. even though i know nothing about it.

Awesome to know Bruce is still alive and modding Delica in his own fantastic way. Great to know what became of his second L300 Delica project (that's her), sure can't help and wonder what's new with the original mystery machine?
Luckydad are you a reincarnation of another Delica.ca username from the not so distant past?

Regardless of Bruce's goal for the window screens on this one, his Delica probably see's more off road time than pretty much any other one else out there...

By the looks of the front bullbars, it looks as though Bruce has began to pillage parts off the Mystery Machine. The Mud Monkey is sure looking fun. Bruce, if you are ever lurking, what happened to the DOA stickers? lol.
Josh.

Ditto on seeing the movie. A link once it's out would be great.

Bruce just uploaded all the photos to his flickr-account. Just in case you still have not enough of his Apocalyptica Delica

LOL - just been pointed to this through a link by Fexlboi.
Quite interesting how news passes around the world (someone sent me a link to a thread similar to this one on the Australian forum)
This is indeed the 'Mud Monkey' in one of its recent guises.
Jesse, the rear windows were left like that on the request of the film company. They wanted them blacked out so that it was like a panelled van in the rear. The Delica is used to capture a guy and hold him hostage. There is a sequence filmed in the back of the motor, it's all blacked out with only an inspection lamp as a light source. I even had to build a bulkhead/firewall between the cab and the back to make it completely seperate. All in two days!
Here are some shots from the film set. I wasn't supposed to have a camera on set during filming so sneaked these shots on my phone just before they started shooting me drive the van in for the abduction sequence.
The next day we were at a different location filming the abducted guy being dragged from the Delica and up some steps into a big power station. They filmed various takes from inside the van and from outside. First take was for me to drive the Delica to a certain point where I had to pull up sharply then the guys jump out. All the sequences after that were of the hostage being dragged into the power station. I took hours just to get a few minutes of footage!
As said, I wasn't allowed to take photos on set so headed back afterwards and got all the shots from the thread. I've not long taken up photography so it was a good opportunity to get some much needed practice in. Many thanks for the comments about the photos, always nice to know they aren't too bad.

Also, depending on what the story is, a big-budget movie doesn't have ONE of the lead vehicle, there are generally half-dozen of them (in case something unforeseen happens). Don't know if the movie has that much 'action', but hey, you might need more than one 400-quid beater!
