Saskatoon's 5th L300 has Arrived!

Post by VirtualJJ »

An amazing L300 from Amazing Auto Imports!

Black over White Exceed, crystal lite roof with white bars, LED running lights, trailer hitch and a ladder. In absolutely incredible condition.

I cannot say enough good things about Mardy at AAI. He threw in many "freebies": Monsoon guards, wiper blades, diesel additive etc. etc., and the van was so carefully cleaned and detailed that it looked new. He even picked me up from the airport with my new van and bought me lunch!

After 1700kms of highway driving, (including a few backroad jaunts along the way) I must conclude that this is the best vehicle I have ever owned, and I'm just getting started.

Registration & plates happens tomorrow. It was supposed to be today - I booked an appointment with Cdn. Tire but when I got there they told me that they don't do inspections on RHD vehicles and sent me home :( but whatever)

Saskatoon's L300 content has been boosted by 25%!

Hooray!

No, that's good because you'll save yourself and all the rest of us the grief of another Canadian-Tire-inspecting-a-RHD-vehicle-nightmare. I don't ANYBODY on this forum has related a good inspection story that has taken place at a CT.

That being said, congratulations! Nothing like getting to know your ride like a road trip, eh? I think you'll find it's quite a handy vehicle, and although they look a bit unwieldy, they really are very capable. It must be a dead heat between the Pajeros and the Star Wagons there in The 'Toon - what's the score, now?

OK on 8th.... Thanks for the tip.

My Temporary ICBC Insurance runs out today, so I booked it at the first place that would take it this morning. Turns out that it was the Kal Tire on Faithful Ave. so we'll see how it goes (fingers crossed).

My wife drove it around a bit last night. She loves it too.

I've seen a few Pajeros around town, but yeah, I wonder what the tally is too.

Still pretty nervous about the inspection though..

You should be fine. In order to get a temporary permit from the province of BC the vehicle would have had to pass inspection (I believe). The provinces are VERY similar in OOP inspection requirements (except Que.), so you should be fine.

That is what I am hoping... It passed BC inspection a few days ago. Although when I dropped it off this morning, they called out the manager and he gave me a bit of a speech about how RHD vehicles get "special treatment" during inspections... almost three extra pages worth of checks. He said this is because RHD is discouraged in Saskatchewan, so they make it difficult for them to pass...

I guess we'll see. I'm still waiting for the call back.

Hey Tinytoy,

Apparently Steve is no longer over at OK Tire on 8th. But thanks for the tip. I might end up going there anyway.

The Kal Tire experience was terrible, as they have problems with every single light on the van.

Also, I guess I find myself in need of any sort of advice to make this Saskatchewan inspection thing work. It's a terrible feeling to finally own a Delica, but not be able to drive it.

If you are still having issues I have the inspection report copy from OK that was done on my van. If The Manager at Kal tire came out with that attitude I would have walked.
Evans Insurance on 8th st. is good at regestering JDM's as they have a Suzuki Carry as there rolling billboard. They had no problem registering both my vehicals, and were recomended by OK as the place to go for the first time. After they are registered for the first time you can re-insure wherever you please.
Spiffy auto lube on the corner of 8th and mecercher SP?? does oil changes if you supply oil and filter.(driveway oilchanges at -40 suck) .I have extra fuel filters and there are a few of us who do group oil filter buys ( Thanks FS )
I will be back in saskatoon later today and might be taking my kids to DQ in Erindale tonight if you are interested in meeting up. Enjoy your Saskatchewan camoflauge!

Please forgive my spelling as there is no spellcheck here

I thought I was running out of time on my permit, so I went to the only place I could get it done the next day.

I should have gone to OK tire on 8th. I'm almost wondering if it would be worth it to re-do the inspection over there (an extra $110) than do all this lighting work (rear reflectors must self-illuminate, need "better" DRLs).

But I'll see what happens. In any case, thanks for the tips!

Hi
Sorry for the late 'Hey that's great'

Don't redo anything. Take it to OK Tire and get it done there.
I can help you with reflectors etc if need be. But it shouldn't
be a problem. Oil filters, again, talk to me. I get six packs
of great baldwins which i split between whoever needs them
including Tiny and others. Same with fuel filters etc. Or I can
give you the contact info over at Custom Truck and you can
get yourself a 6-pack.

Let me know how it goes.
you can give me a buzz on my cell if you want.
Email me for the number.
