So I'm in a work van, and I see a Delica out on 8th Street. (Saskatoon) (Saskatchewan).
Seeing a Delica is a rare thing here. I've only seen four distinct examples, and this one is pretty far away. I get a bit closer, and I see a Delica.ca decal on the back. As It turns on to the freeway, I follow. I'm still 5 cars or so back, and I hope I'm going to get closer before the Delica exits. I'm "on-the-clock" and I have a co-worker with me, so as long as the Delica was going the same way we were. I could try and get closer. As I get closer I see it has a hitch. I realize I've seen pictures of this one. It's Firesong. I get my co-worker to scrawl FIRESONG? on a sheet of paper and hold it up to the window as we passed :)
I never saw the reaction (it was a busy three lane freeway) but my co-worker said there was a "grin that appeared mean a "yes" answer to our question.
This is where I admit I'm a Deli-stalker. I'm semi-obsessed with these little vans, and I've spent bits of time doing research over the past year on this site. I'm a very cautious buyer, and there were a lot of things I needed to know before I could commit to buying one, and trying to maintain and operate it in our harsh climate and fierce winds. The gentleman known as Firesong was extremely helpful and shared much of his hard-earned knowledge.
And here's the big finish to this short story......
If it were not for Firesong, I probably couldn't announce, (as I am now announcing) that we will soon be the proud owner of a 1993 Exceed, black/silver with crystal-lite and a ladder. Any day now it gets on the boat from Japan, and lands in Vancouver; where another awesome fellow (of high regard on this site) will prep it up. I'll then fly out and drive it home. Within the next few weeks Saskatoon's Delica population will grow by one.
Can't wait.

@Firesong: you should change your routine. You never know when these wackos are watching you...
Hey JJ. Didn't see you there.
Good story. I think you do get a 'first' for that one. Good to read that you're diligent with the research before purchasing and that you've chosen a van of your own. I hope it arrives in short order and you have a wonderful trip retrieving it. I think you'll have fun. Be sure to throw up a picture or two of your own.

It was a first for me..
is that a new term? ' Deli-Stalker' ?
It's like having groupies, only well you know.
Anyway..
Good to hear the news about the new Deli here JJ!
We will be needing a Sask forum in the events for sure with the numbers
increasing...
I think I remember someone talking about that... is it happening?
:)

I had someone in a silver truck honkin and waving a while back..
It is fun to stalk Firesong though... I pestered the heck out of him in the squallmart parking lot before we bought our Deli. Never had a sign though.....

Okay, that's that: I'm declaring Firesong our first celebrity on delica.ca. Sorry dude, there's no cash prize, though.

Or a statue.

Not even a certificate or a wallet card.
