Hi Folks;

My friend, who is a masseuse, has about 4 liters of sesame oil left over. Its unused but has been heated a few times. Any reason why I shouldn't put it in my Deli next time I fill up?

Unused SVO should be fine - especially if you mix it in with your regular diesel. In fact, I think it is better for your injection pump that way too.

Maybe run it through some paper coffee filters to get any crap out of it,
4 liters should be fine on a fill up.
I have seen it mentioned on some of the WVO/SVO and Biodiesel forum
in my reading.

4 litres out of 75 should be fine. I filled my diesel tank completely with WVO one summer, drove another four hours, and then filled up with diesel again. The issue is not the WVO in lines, going through the IP, being warm enough when hitting the combustion chamber (that will all be fine once the engine is warm), it's the getting the engine started when cold, especially when the tank is cold and the fuel within.

WVO gels much earlier than diesel, which will gunk up your lines and make it nigh impossible to start. 'Thinning out' WVO with diesel is a simple cheat, and in the summer it's suggested one could mix 50/50. Problem with Canada is it get's too dang cold in the winter to do the mix, of any percentage, which is why the two-tank-with-heater-assembly is required. Converting WVO to bio-diesel is another way to avoid the conversion kit route: you convert the fuel instead of converting the vehicle. Bio-diesel still has a higher gelling temp than dino-diesel, but I haven't read up enough on that to comment much further.

Biodiesel can actually gel sooner than Canola oil.
I once made a batch of bio from new Canola.
Then put samples of the oil itself, and the bio made from it, in a deep freeze.
Next morning, the Canola would still flow.
The biodiesel made from it would not.

I had forgotten I had started this post Thanx to the input I did add the sesame to my tank before filling with dino with no effect except to screw up my record keeping (and I was too lazy to adjust it).

Another question for you wizards; what do I need to do to used motor oil before putting it in the tank (with diesel)? How much filtering is necessary? I have a wide range of large new filters available and could cobble a gravity filtration system for no cost except time, but would a coffee filter be good enough? This would be dino and synthetic I have recently removed from the Deli and a couple of motorcycles, not to be confused with the hundreds (thousands?) of gallons of used oil I have lying around from unknown sources.

If its not worth the trouble, I will just add my used oil to the "unknown" tank for later pump out or maybe I will get that centrifuge running...
