Forgive my ignorance if I am missing something obvious but...

A obvious forum catagory should be reliable servicing garages, Vancouver and elsewhere. The here part is a no brainer but advice and information about servicing while in other parts of Canada and the US would be very usefull as well.

My first question is: where is good servicing found in order of priority: Whistler, Squamish, North Vancouver and finally, the rest of the known universe.

The reason why it's not a category is that it's all based on individual opinions and not everyone's opinion is right. Or wrong depending on how you look at it.

There's a few threads floating around on the subject.

There are also favorites that some people like while others prefer a different place for their own reasons.

These are very simple engines, any mechanic who knows diesel should have no trouble with it.
That said, there are a LOT of mechanics out there with an irrational fear of anything "different" who refuse to touch anything not in their computer... don't try to change their mind, just find a shop willing to take a look.
There's no hard and fast rule, but it seems that small independent places seem more willing to tackle something like this than big chains. That's not to say you won't find a bad mechanic at an independent place, or a good mechanic at a large chain of garages, but on average you'll probably want to avoid any of the Canadian Tire, Walmart, Sears, Certiguard, etc. places.

If your mechanic is worried about finding parts (a common concern) let them know that you will source any part they need, most common maintenance parts are available at the usual places (lordco or napa) assuming you have a part number (available on this site!), and anything harder to find can be sourced by any of a number of importers who frequent this site.

thats the opinion I'm looking for. thanks. I know about CVI and a few others who actually specialize, something I'm looking for but closer to home.

There's a handfull of delica's roaming around whistler and I would have to say one of the largest Delica gatherings right in Squamish.

There must be a good shop up there.

I'm heading up there this weekend. I'll ask around.
