Given how expensive the headlights for the current gen of L400 are, I think an ABS cover is a worthwhile addon for an L400. Has anyone seen any other place that we can get these from? Or, maybe we get a group buy in and some assistance from the UK members?
*Edit*
By ABS I mean ABS Plastic, not ABS as in Braking System.

Well, I emailed them asking if they could ship the headlight protectors to Canada and I got the following response:
Hi there,
sorry we cannot sell to Canada for insurance reasons.
INSURANCE reasons?

if you want to set up a group buy, you can send them to my place in Japan and then just either mail them or put them into a load of parts coming in... but you organize it...

Headlight covers are technically illegal in Canada, that said, I use the stick-on "film" (thick rubbery coating) made by a company called Leader.
Nothing that wouldn't get through those plastic covers will get through this stuff.
The one catch is that the headlights have a significant curve to them in both the horizontal and vertical planes, as such my coating is peeling along the top edge, likely this could be solved with more careful application than I did.

I would have no problem with organizing a group buy on these. Did they say they would ship to Japan?
*EDIT*
Shows on their site that they ship to Japan.

Even the perfectly transparent ones? That is silly! If anything, they make driving safer!

It's not the only silly law on the books.

If you wanted to i could get them shipped to my address in the U.K and then fowarded on from there that will save extra shipping to Japan if there is enough interest in these.

You may want to check your provincial laws regarding this, as in Manitoba, covers that are clear and have no pattern are legal. If there is a pattern that will affect the light, it is illegal. If it is colored, (even yellowed due to aging) it is illegal. Again this is in Manitoba, I cannot speak for other provinces. This being said, I'd be interested in a set if there is no pattern on them.

I use the 3M/Leader transparent film as well.
Serves 2 purposes.
Rocks bounce off
If a softball sized rock hit it, the glue/film would keep it from shattering
that's why I think the film is better than a plastic cover
depending on cost, I'd try a set

Ok, I will check with the UK crowd to see how good these are, then see if there is interest in a group buy if these are favorable. It seems much less expensive to send them to the UK first, and then send them here.

They have the added advantage of being discrete in case you get some idiot cop/inspector.

I use the 3M stuff. I think it was $26 for a six metre roll that is six inches wide, ideal for L300 headlamps, not sure about L400s. Sasquatch Hunter turned me onto it and I got it from a body shop supplier on Bridgeport Road, not far from Shell Road.
