Piston broke

And I'm sure we've all heard the joke that goes along with that line.
I was on my way to Mt. Cain yesterday and experienced a very expensive BANG and rattle.
Pulled the head today and it had self destructed, looked like the piston broke at the wrist pin, beat the head to death, scored the bore beyond repair and probably caused severe damage to the bottom end.
Very sad.
Tragic in fact.
So, as a result, I'm in the market for a used engine that will drop into an '88 exceed.
Anyone aware of any?

Are you running a 4D56? I ask this because my 4D56 has sleeves in it and I thought they all did. I would think that if you have scored the bore, as you put it, then is it not the sleeve that is scored?

I think that the cost to replace the sleeve, piston, rod, head, etc outweighs dropping a used engine. Also I'm confident that the crankshaft is damaged also as the counterbalance shafts as well, the bottom half of the piston must have collided wiyh the shaft as that belt blew up as well.
In anycase, thanks for looking "out of the box" and seeing alternatives.

Hey, you're welcome. I guess a new engine would be in order ~ then I would refer to Loki's post.
