Hi everyone,

I've searched a few sites as well as this one and I'm not sure what to replace my old ECS shocks with.

Anyone have a part number/brand for a substitute (not ECS) that would be good for me and my 94 L400? I have other upgrades in mind for the delica and I would like to spend money judiciously.

It will be lot's of winter mountain highway driving (snow, ice), up and down a steep, nasty 1.2 km dirt driveway and plenty of forestry/logging roads to access mountain areas. So some four wheeling, but with "nothing to prove" (if you know what I mean).

As I stated above I have searched this site and others and I am still not sure what to replace my ECS shocks with.

I have seen lots of posts on 2" lifts, problems with loops and pins and 34 pages of all kinds of things that are not really helpful. I was kinda hoping that some one with an ECS equipped stock height L400 has replaced their shocks with "normal' ones and could shed some light on this for me.

ECS Electronically controlled suspension

some L400s have this option.

Basically, there is a small button on the dash of some L400's that is labeled "ECS". When you press it, a small green light saying "SPORT" comes up on the dash. Depressing it, turns it off. The ECS system twists a small screw on the top of the shock changing the performance of the shock, so you can dynamically adjust your suspension response while driving.

*EDIT*

Sport mode locks the suspension in sport mode, otherwise the system dynamically adjusts to the driving conditions.

Replacement solenoid controlled (ecs) shock replacements that I found were $267 each + shipping.

$1,200 for 4 shocks is ridiculous considering the dampening is negligible compared to a $50 shock.

I'll dig up the Monroe part numbers but I won't recommend them since they you can buy 4 good shocks for the price of one Monroe adjustable one.

I also have the measurents.

Front L400 - pin top/eye bottom
Rear L400 - eye top/eye bottom

Front L400 w ECS - pin top/eye bottom
Rear L400 w ECS - pin top/eye bottom

Wow Jesse you are too kind. I've been under a few times, but its wet and dirty this time of year and I appreciate the info. It would let me do some phone/on-line shopping without having to get back under the delica one more time.

I'm looking for the economy offer at this time, so a $50 shock is just the ticket in my book.

Would these be the same specs as a 94 SWB Paj? Those ECS shocks are cool for entering parking jungles and for the backroads, but thats about it. The dampening sucks.

No.

The SWB paj has ride height adustable shocks.

The ECS just has an adjustment to stiffen the dampening rate a little.
