Well - having confirmed our L400 Exceed is the best MAV ever on the icy and snowy road up to Mt. Washington on Vancouver Island, it's time to come out and introduce ourselves.

Chris and Darlene - owners of a very nice silver L400 since October. We bought it from Mardy, live in Victoria, and plan to go on many mountain biking, camping and snowboarding adventures in it with our two young kids. It was awesome driving up the Strathcona Parkway by all the pulled over vehicles madly chaining up in the heavy snow on New Years Day. The Delica performed flawlessly and we are really enjoying it. I have even managed to stop turning on the wipers instead of signalling a turn!!
This site has been a wealth of information while we were researching our purchase and since we acquired our van. Thanks to all of you who contribute.
So far we have figured out how to tether a child car seat, changed the radio and will install new speakers this weekend. We are working on getting rid of the faint cigarette smoke smell and by spring when we can really air it out, it should be just about perfect. Until Chris dreams up some more pimping to do.
Cheers!

Congrats & Welcome,
A quick cheap way to help get rid of the smoke smell is to put pickling salt in an open wide mouth jar or a margarine tub and let it do its thing while waiting for spring.
Then again , the quick down n dirty is to spray Febreeze all over.
Cheers

One of the members on the mainland does detailing and has an ozone machine that is supposed to remove all smoke smell. not sure who it was but there may also be a place on the island that does it as well.

Leave a dead fish back in the cargo area - that'll get rid of the cigarette smell and you won't be tripping over the jar of pickling salt!
BTW, welcome to the group! Sweet ride, and it must have been fun testing out the AWD setting on the drive up Mt. Washington!

This should be a top tip like using a heat gun to restore black trim. What if you used sardines? That would combine the fish and the salt.
The other mod we did was a mitusmaple sticker from mararmeisto. Installation was a breeze. Two other things we would like to do is a dimmer for the dash lights and remote locking. There are cheap kits available for the latter but I'm not sure what is involved.
Loki I did send a guinea pig I mean friend with a smoky pickup truck to fishslapper for the ozone treatment and he was happy with the result.

I didn't require the ozone treatment but fishslapper does a wonderful job on detailing inside and out.

I'm a little confused, my L400 has a dash dimmer... it's located on the right side of the dash near the driver's right knee... or is this an optional upgrade that I have?

Well Green1, your Royal may have a dimmer but we have a coin holder. And two blanks.

But that's cool because one day you can tell me where the dimmer wires go.
