Can't wait.

Hello all,
I have been lurking for a bit and waiting for mine to get shipped. She is a "92 (P25W) 4 star, 5 speed with 60,000km. The pics look mint except for 1 ding. After months of waiting it is finally here. She has finished the prelim inspection and only needs the usual. She is going to get a second opinion at Mardys (I hope this week) and get everything she needs for the long cold winter ahead (also at Mardys).
She will be well cared for and exercised regularly during all seasons, both short and long trips. We will teach her English and we will learn Japanese to make the transition as easy as possible. You may see her moving quickly to the water or the mountains carrying every possible combination of human power transportation, and probably the dog too (she also likes to travel). I have not yet named her but I imagine she will tell us her name with time.
We will wave to all other delis' on the road and support the community as a whole. For we are now, Deli owners.

Thanks for the posts. Who are the other reputable mechanics in the lower mainland? I am in Calgary and my choices are very limited.

Being in Calgary, you ought to contact Green1, Erebus or White Mule (or all three) as they know the local scene in Calgary. Here's a link to the Alberta Events List: http://www.delica.ca/forum/alberta-46/
There are others, too. Be sure to post any mods or fixes you do on your van in "Delica Canada Technical", so we can all learn. Also; as I suspect you know ~ if you cant find in the search engine, you can always ask... smiles.
Falco.

Well when I said that I can wait it did not mean that I want to wait. I bought the van from Terra 2 on Aug 19. Payments went in right away and was to be landed mid Sept. Boats came and went. Then without warning in mid Nov it arrived. Next email on 30 Nov it was through importation and through prelim inspection. I had the truck moved to CVI and in less than a week Marty and Jill had everything taken care of. It would have been quicker if Gerry at terra 2 send the headlights and DRL module would have sent it on time. Terra 2 was supposed to send the paperwork but still none, so no insurance or reg so I could fly out to van to drive it back to Calgary. That was the 15 Dec. So I had to have it shipped on a truck and it arrived on the 22nd. Now it sits in a compound accumulating charges waiting for the paperwork. I am tired of waiting.... for Terra 2. I have called and email too many times to count, but it is slow (but detailed when Gerry does respond). Next time I will try someone who does this full time.

Ouch. Hope it works out for you in the end, looks like a real gem.

My heart goes out to you. I know the frustration of waiting. Welcome to the Calgary family. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask via PM, e-mail, or even - gasp - on the forum!

Well, after a long wait, even longer as I was out of town working. I finally got her, still no name just yet, waiting for her to tell it to me. The maint was all done at CVI and I had it trucked out, that saved me time and potential trouble over Christmas. Got the beastie reg, OOP and insured, (I still need an appraisal). Some questions came up during the process:
1) I have a purchase agreement from Terra 2 and it had no signatures (but they do not own it, only a middle man)
2) the VIN matches the vehicle but the kms and the year are different (I thought I bought a 92 and it is a 91 with 53,000KM not 65,000KM)
ok this is nit picky, but I purchased "almost new" headlights and the high beam light is burnt out.
plus I had to wait and extra 2weeks for the paperwork to show up.
Lots of interior damage that was not disclosed. I know it is almost 20 years old, but it would be nice to know.
I did get a free ladder in the process, which was nice.
It has a CD and a mini disc player, the funny thing is I threw out all my mini discs a month ago (haha)
It has been fun to figure out where windshield wiper fluids go, how to get the plate on, opening up the engine compartment, etc
I need to know where the rear wiper pump is (I have no fluid coming out).
Starting to build a list of all the things to do this summer:
curtains
console
roof racks w/ awning
rear bumper w/ tire holder
new stereo
camperization
manual super winch
double caliper breaks
snorkle

Glad you finally got it, despite the surprises. For the rear washer, see my thread ...
http://www.delica.ca/forum/rear-window- ... -2085.html
Just re-read it and it doesn't say where it is. The filler is just above the right rear taillight. Open tailgate and you should see it. The reservoir itself is below that. Inside passenger compartment, look at right rear corner. You will see panel that comes out with a little prying. Reservoir is there. I suspect you have frozen fluid, rather than malfunction. Let us know.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I may not be on the forum too often, but a PM or e-mail will get to me pretty quick. I have a roof rack with awning. If you want to meet to see it, just let me know. The rack was made here in Calgary.

Or... maybe it's just empty?

Firstly, welcome. Nice ride and hope it gets better down the road.
It sounds like you got scammed by paying for one vehicle and receiving another. I would personally not stand for it, but not being local makes things more difficult for you.
It pains me to read posts like these.
I've emailed Gerry from Terra2imports before and always got a reply back within the hour, no exceptions even late on weekends.
I'm assuming and hopefully I'm wrong. It's possible that Terra2 being the middle-middle-man, did not received the de-reg documents from Japan from the exporter/seller and swapped them with another Delica's vin #'s.
If you need any help locally to contact them in person, please let me know. I'll do what I can.

Mine had an appraisal done too, in Aug 2007 by "Appraisals by Doug" in Chestermere, 403-540-0863 for my importer (his usual appraiser).

I did find the fill hole and did put in about 100ml of wiper fluid in and it spit the rest out. So maybe it is frozen It is not critical. Maybe it needs more priming. Now I need to find out how to change the high beam (I feel real foolish asking this one).
I did get it all registered, whether it was 100% legit, I don't know.
Erebus, I parked by you at Chinook on Sat am, was in watching Avatar. I put two and two together and figured it was you. Nice ride.
I looked through the docs that were send and some of it kinda made sense the importer had the vehicle, its last registration had 53000kms and it was made in Dec of 91, that is kinda like 92. All the photos are of the same vehicle. I did get good service from Gerry then the delays got longer, but he did give me lots of detail when he did respond.
I am looking forward now to getting her out to do some playing, see you all out there.
