Delica Canada | Mitsubishi Van Club

Hello-
I've just registered as a user. I'm in the market for a Delica (I think), but I'm not an enthusiast (yet), nor a mechanic, and I have concerns about maintaining a vehicle where parts & labour may be difficult to get.

Can any existing owners in Ontario (South central - Haliburton County) dispel my concerns. Is finding parts difficult/easy and what about a mechanic?

I believe the Delica would fit my lifestyle, but I'm not going to do engine maintenance myself.

I do my own work so maybe not the best person to ask.

All parts except diesel parts can be found locally.

You can overnight all other parts from BC suppliers.

Any good mechanic can work on it the motor is simple. I did all my own work and it is an easy motor.

My wife and I live in London, Ontario now (formerly N.Van BC)...

The main thing you want to do is buy a "fully serviced" delica. We bought ours from Mardy at Amazing Auto Imports ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO and haven't had to do ANYTHING to it except regular maintenance (ie. oil change, fuel filter, air filter, tire rotation etc...). We've put on over 50,000kms since our purchase.

THE ONLY THING I DO MYSELF IS CHANGE THE AIR FILTER That's where my mechanical skills come to an end...oh, I can check and top up fluids too .Any mechanic/garage can do the regular stuff, and any diesel mechanic should be able to do anything beyond that. We buy all our parts from Mardy in BC, and i'm sure he can overnight something if it's an emergency. There are at least 3-4 options for buying parts in the lower mainland and Vancouver Island in BC.

I just go to an import garage for service...they do what I need them to.

This topic has been discussed a few times lately, so i'm sure if you search for "ontario" on this site you may find some more info and maybe some other member experiences.

I bought mine fully serviced from Mardy. I spoke to him about parts and he said to go to a (mitsubishi) Fuso dealer. Next time I need any work done that is beyond the capabilities of myself or a good friend of mine (VW owner - lots of experience haha) I will be heading down there. I've printed off everything relevant to my delica from http://www.delicaclub.com/downloads.php?cat=7 and have it filed in a binder that I keep in the van. I'm located in Kitchener/Waterloo area so I have a choice of going to either the Kitchener Fuso dealership or the main office in Hamilton.

I picked up my oil filters there $6 cheaper than i've seen anywhere else, always in stock. They also have the Shell Rotella 15W-40 Oil in the 20L (i think) pails for about $65.



And of course they love checking out your Deli.

woah, a pail of rotella T for 65 bucks?! noice! good to know, thanks for all that info! still delica'less...but we're close i hope!

Yeah, my jaw hit the floor as i'd just spent a hundred bucks on some other oil (winter: Castrol 5W-40) at Canadian Tire. Ah well, that is a lesson I won't forget anytime soon.

Now to figure out why my horn isnt working... I hope it's the actual horn and not a pinched wire from putting the column back on, ya try to be careful eh? Just itching for an excuse to get an air horn
