power blind repair

What not to do on a long weekend.
It looked like I just needed to fix the little plastic clips that hold the blinds in the tracks. 6 hrs and mucho cursin later I learned my lesson. As the photos show my crystal light roof had internal complictions leading to much hemmoraging. I was able to staunch the flow of flying screws shattering plastic to rebuild what should have been left alone.
I still have one perfectly operating power blind for showing off and the others have been satisfactorly rebuilt with metal tabs that are riveted to the blinds that hold closed with rare earth magnets and hold open with the built in springy things.I'm happy with that ,it works smoothly and easy.
If you have been repeatedly trying your blinds with one side not in the clips the internal cable is likely toast because it needs to be kept under tension to coil properly on the motorized spool. It's not user friendly. The cable is similar to a bike cable except that it has knobs bonded to both ends so it is not repairable without a new cable.
Was showing my van to a pilot friend and he said the ceiling light panel is the same as they use in Mitsubishi aircraft, neato!!
thats all
checkout the surgery pics if you have a strong stomach
