I have an old alarm system lying around that includes a remote starter, I plan to install it myself in the L400 once it arrives.

I have remote start in my Jasper. The brand is Starbo and the Model for an L400 is RS60R. They are a common model in Japan. My wife's WRX which is fully imported, came with a Starbo remote Start as well. They have a small remote with a 3" pull out aerial and one button. They work from 100mtrs or so with the Ariel out. The adjustments for the glow plug timing etc is on the main unit. They are very safe as they are connected to the hand brake and "park" . You can buy them cheap on Japanese Yahoo... Cheers..

It is the same as on any other diesel engine. just make sure the shop that installs it knows how to install one on a diesel (the last place I tried didn't bother getting an input from the glow plugs, needless to say, it never worked right unless the engine was already warm, they also didn't bother with the park brake input so the turbo timer feature didn't work, and they screwed up the engine-running indicator so that it wouldn't recognize that the engine was running properly even if it had suceeded!)

lol, well, I'm turning over a new Delica page this month with the new L400 arriving, and the L300 leaving (I hope) so I hope to do a bit of a reset on my luck in this department.

Don't get me wrong, despite all the bad luck on the L300, I don't regret it for a moment. I did what I thought was best at the time, and given the same options and situation again, I probably would do the same thing all over again. That vehicle has provided me with a ton of enjoyment, and capabilities that I never thought I would have. And through most of it, I've still been sporting the "Delica Grin", you just can't help but to enjoy every moment behind the wheel of a Delica.
