So far I'm impressed with his fast and friendly response via email. Will see if we go with him...

Too bad we didn't do business together, but it looks like you got a good unit. That's the most important thing. We've been sending Delicas to Canada on a fairly steady basis, and the 1994 P series are cheaper than before.

However, we had some issues with a couple of our client's P35W Delicas. We bought based solely on the inspection sheet. They were a 3.5 C and the issue was with corrosion on the roof. Frankly, if there is any indication or rust on the roof, we should no longer consider it. The one client in mind, Dennis, was super about the whole thing. He realized the situation. I hope it goes ok for him. From his experience, we will no longer buy a Delica if the inspection sheet says there is even a speck of rust on the roof. Seems like this is a common problem; rust/corrosion on the roof. They are so darn flat! And, water accumulates around the seal of the sunroof.

Anyhow, I really like the Delicas. Too bad we can't register diesels here in Aichi Prefecture, or I'd be driving one!

Also got my '92 P35W via Sastrad KK (JCE back then) & Steve, as well as a Subaru Sambar, and was satisfied with both experiences. My Delica was rated a 3.5 (don't recall the suffix letter) and turned out to be in excellent condition on arrival. No rust on roof (or anywhere), but it also doesn't have skylights/sunroof.
BTW - what the heck does the "KK" stand for???

Thanks guys.

The KK is the incorporation designation, the same as Ltd, Co, or Inc. would be in Canada. KK means kabushiki kaisha. A KK had to have a minimum of 3,000,000yen in capital to sit in a bank. I hear these days its changed, but back then I had to prove we had at least 3,000,000yen capital. And, it costs a bundle to start a corporation here!

I had a negative experience with this small business. I imported a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible with assurances of its road-worthiness in Canada. However our customs declared my car unsuitable for driving in Canada due to our bumper specifications. I had to pay an additional $2100 in modifications as a result.

After several unanswered emails, I called him on the phone, and he shortly after told me "Go ^&%$#@ yourself." I can't say I have a good opinion of using his business. There are larger companies I've dealt with, and have had no problems. I don't want to knock the idea of importing from Japan, but I think I'll stay away from small business types in the future as a result.

Right, should have done this before. I'm moving this thread to Beefs & Bouquets.

That's unfair to Steve at Sastrad as clearly he didn't export a 02 Eclipse to Canada to you and you mixed his name up with someone else. There's no chance to import a newer than 15 year old car to Canada from Japan and Sastrad doesn't sell cars from the states or other countries.

Sorry AJ, but we have never dealt with you, nor exported from the US to Canada. We have never sold a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse from the US to anyone. I am sure you have my company confused with another company. Please re-check the name of the company you had dealings with and post again to clear this up.

Thanks

An update on this. It is obvious to me that this AJIMPORTS person is a phony. No retraction nor email to me.
Like William at JDM Connection said, there is no way we would have sent a 2002 Eclipse from Japan to Canada, and we have never sold from the US (which we do not have a physical shop) to Canada.

We do ship vehicle from Japan to the US and Canada. We have a 1990 Delica going to Tacoma next month.
