does anyone know where I can pick up a block heater for a 2.8L engine (Pajero)?

I'd love to be proven wrong on this one, but until I am, my large (siliconed in place) engine pad heater works fine, combined with two yellow tops, and factory fuel line heaters.

If someone is able to make it work, please post up the location and bore of the frost plug you used.

I wouldn't give up quite yet, the communal wisdom for the L300 up until about 2-3 years ago was that it was impossible to put a block heater in an L300 too, and yet it's common now.
Someone just has to be the brave soul to waste a lot of time (and possibly money) figuring it out, and then it'll be easy for everyone who follows...

Like I said, this is what the research told me, and a look at caps, after finding the right application for the CAT loader etc. This applies to Pajeros of course, but I'd love to find out that there was a way. Don't give up. This is how cross references are built for JDM vehicles - a brave soul proves that something "can be done".

would not an inline heater be better suited for an L300?
i would think that the circulation of antifreeze in the block would be more efficient.
probably easier to install too...

problem is the vast majority of inline heaters don't circulate the coolant, and as a result are useless. I have yet to see a plugin circulating inline coolant heater, though I have heard they exist.
the only circulating heaters I've seen are the Espar and Webasto, but they are both extremely expensive, and somewhat difficult to install.

I just had Japanoid in new west install one for me on my 94 Pajero 2.8l, dont know the details though......

Sorry, did you have a block heater or an in line heater installed? If it's in line, does it actually work?


And to everyone else... Has anyone tried the oil pan heating pads that adhear to the bottom? And if so, does it work well and to how low of temperatures??

The L400s are now getting actual block heaters... so I suspect the 2.8L paj should be similar... right side rear frost plug I believe...

Here you go. This is all you will need to install your heater. Just did mine and boy is it nice to have with this cold weather we are having in the Interior. Plug it in for a couple of hours and it fires like a dream.........Kirk out.
