Hello,
My name is Marek. My wife Erin and I just bought a 1991 Delica Exceed. We love it.

PROS:
- diesel fuel
- loads of room for whatever comes up
- my Dad loves it the same way he loves Star Trek

CONS:
- pulls to the left quite hard
- black smoke at every acceleration
- windows whistle at highway speeds

Marek :-D

Some thoughts on your "issues":

1. sounds like alignment
2. sounds like a heavy foot or the injection pump needs tuning
3. sounds like the windows aren't shutting properly

Other than that, welcome to the group. Maybe we'll see you 'round town sometime. What colour is your van?

Agree with Mararmeisto, alignment. RHD's seem to commonly pull to the left before a good alignment to get them tuned in for driving on the right. Poor tire condition can make the problems worse too.

- black smoke at every acceleration

Search the forum here; stuck EGR can be cleaned or blanked out, and injection pump timing also can help. Can be made to drive (mostly) free of black smoke, but after tuning your exhaust system is still loaded with carbon soot.

- windows whistle at highway speeds

Again by search there is a post about replacement wedges that keep the front windows tight closed when all the way up. Can't even remember where I bought two, but they were relatively cheap and stopped the whistling.

Edit - After a quick look found that I posted the window guide part three and half years ago -
Part # for the front window guide clips MB421735 (order 2, $5.11 each, available from your local Mitsubishi dealer) Lets you wind the window up normally instead of using fingers or suction cups to try and pull the window closed at highway speed. Installs under the window runchannel about 6" down on the A pillar part of the window frame. Peel the seal back (just pulls out), look for the mark where the old one used to be, pop new one in, reinstall seal. If you have the vent visors on your front windows, these may not fit. Confirmed, thanks to EricN

Search is your Delicas friend!! :-D :M

Cheers and Welcome!!
