alright so its still not comin loose. iv come to the conclusion that i either have to replace the housing or just throw in a snorkel and move the air filter away from the rear tire (worst placement ever). apparently the only other vehicles that use this airfilter and would have similar housing are heavy machinery. if some one knows differently i love to know as i dont want to ship one up to PG from the lower mainland.
time to reopen the snorkel thread...

The guys at CVI couldn't get it off either? That sucker must be really cross threaded! At this point I would think about leaving it until you have a replacement one because if you did get it off I would be surprised if it goes back on.

Why is your air filter all the way at the back of the vehicle?

Edit - Good point by Mar too - air filter should be up under driver side....?
Even tried a makeshift plier/breaker bar combo? I was going to suggest just drilling out the bolt with a metal carbide bit, but then I couldn' remember how long the bolt was - but this still might be an option.

If it's as stuck as you are describing it, it sounds like you cross-threaded the bolt as you put it back in. Source a new canister before you try to take it out, then just replace the whole thing.

I'll be in vancouver mid october, and in PG a day after... if you need the airfilter housing I could possibly pick it up for you then and save you on shipping. But I am sure shipping and a housing from CCautos wouldnt break the bank (even with shipping).
