Does anyone know where the orfices are located in the a/c system? I think my ice box orfice is plugged. What happens is a few seconds after I turn the A/C on the compressor stops turning. I took it out and put 12V to it and it seems to turn fine this is why I think I have a blockage.

This is normal. The clutch is supposed to cycle. You need to check your air duct/ ice box temps. and also your refrigerant pressures for a more accurate diagnosis.
You may have nothing wrong.

This is not caused by a plugged orifice. Your a/c system has a high pressure cutout pressure switch that will cut power to the a/c clutch when pressures get too high. Make sure your drive belt is in good condition (not glazed, cracked, worn out), and properly tensioned. There is also the possibility of a mechanicle fault with your a/c compressor, but better to start with the simple/ cheap things first.

Am I correct in thinking that these systems use a thermal expansion valve in the evaporators rather than an orifice tube?
