Hello all.

Has anybody been up around the area described on the subject? My wife and I are heading north of Campbell River to hit some lakes. If anybody has a favourite spot, we would love to hear about it. For those without the map book, it is the north side of Campbell Lake, and west of the Snowden Demo Forest. I saw a nice Delica at the Courtenay Canadian Tire today. Green with roof rack, and 31's I believe. It looks nice, way to go whomever that belongs to.

Cheers!
Geoff

Hi Geoff, our book went walkabout, but the deli group was inland of there last year, I cant remember the lake. It was organised by Kathy and Brian of K&B etc login ID. The roads were super good gravel, not all chewed up like ours are by city idiots. Clear water in lakes, easy to get parked as little traffic on roads. Hopefully someone else who was also on the trek will see this post and reply.
Christine.

Hi Christine,

Oddly enough my wife and I ran into Kathy and Brian today. We were out doing some touring and ran into them at a rec site. Just down the road from where you were last year on Campbell Lake. They are nice people, we sat with them for a couple of hours and had a fews stories to share. We didn't make it as far as we planned, but the day turned out perfect. I hope you are enjoying the heat!
Cheers!

Since I only remember giving my Van Isle Backroads map book to a Delica owner, but whom?

Quite fond of that area; both met Randi and popped the question at Grey Lake on the May long weekend. Endless forest service campgrounds and my memories may be outta date - I can remember camping Morton/Mohun lakes in the 70's, that was a yearly outing for our family. Somewhere in the Beaver lake area there are some nice private campgrounds (can't remember which pond outta of the several near by). Have you visited Mcreight, Pye and Stella lake areas; within short drive to little bear bay and Rock bay (Which both aren't the quiet FSC anymore, but still worth a visit). If you hike, Landslide Lake is my fav overnighter (edit - hike) from the Strahcona area. Had a nice campsite, all to ourselves and friends, on Schoen Lake a couple of years ago; that's a bit north (might not be cause I don't know what's on page 40). Ten years ago the back side of Brewster had a couple of pretty spots.

Keep the camping pictures coming Geoff.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=50.03375 ... &t=h&hl=en - its the "little" lake up and left of "Elk Falls Provincial Park"

this should take you over the area in question. Sorry no pictures this time, I forgot my camera at home! It is so wonderful up there. If ever you are around this way again, we'll have to get out and do some exploring up there. How is the world treating you over there? Your establishment looks fantastic. Colleen and I wanted to come over when we saw your pictures and eat/drink right away!

I hope all is well.
