Being from the one time car theft capital of canada I thought I better clarify the origin of my Deli. Thanks to your website (been lurking for over a year, learning and investigating) Through your site I found out about CVI's recent open house and stopped by to chat with a bunch of current owners of Delica's. Great fun, great people. My thanks to everyone there who so willing shared their experiences and to the CVI staff for their advice and perspective.
While at CVI I was referred to several dealerships locally and eventually bought my Delica from Maximum Overdrive. It is a green and Champagne colored Super Exceed with a little body damage obtained while unloading from the container. Felt bad for the Maximum Overdrive folks but they gave me good consideration on the price and a buddy and I will fix it ourselves so it all worked out in the end. I talked to quite a number of dealers and Maximum Overdrive had the unit I wanted and a good price to match.
Now that I am officially in position to beg entry into the Delica cult/family I have appreciated even more all the little tips around things like where in the heck is the windshield washer resevoiur(s) and how do you clear clogged washer fluid lines, downloaded the manuals (thank goodness my business has a high speed laser printer yikes!), and hints on how to deal with installing a new stereo.
My userid comes from that feeling while driving in traffic that I'm riding in something from a Mad Max movie...awesome feeling! Looking forward to getting back to more canoeing, cross country skiing and some of the other things that escaped me and the missus while our kids were growing up.
Thanks again for being so sharing of your experiences. I feel very realistically prepared for Deli ownership and all that it will likely entail.
looking forward to learning and eventually adding to the sharing.
Take care,
Dave
