I was wondering if anyone who has upgraded to the newer style monsoon guards has noticed a difference - either in how the air flows into the van or the noise level?

Seems that the ones I have are only a little noisy with the usual wind noise you would expect, they also rattle a little if the window is only down an inch or so. The air flow seems to buffet the side of my head pretty strong and in colder times, with the window open even a crack, it becomes annoying to have one side of my head frigid :)

I can only agree with dfender....

The way the air circulates around the front passengers with the windows open with monsoon guards (can't speak for how it is without monsoon guards) is pretty bad... Never had a vehicle that created so much weird turbulence and annoying draft with the front window open anywhere from a few centimeters to all the way down.

I noticed that, if the rear "fold out" windows are folded out, the opening of the front windows leads to much less turbulence and annoying draft... its much smoother and the air passing through the front cabin just "gently" circulates back and out the rear windows...

The only challenge is... when you're driving with nobody in the back and you want to open the rear windows you have to pull over, stop, climb back, open the windows and carry on (and vice versa when closing the windows).

Too bad they didn't motorize the rear fold-out windows (since there is so much other "motorized" stuff in these vans)

I don't think I have any monsoon guards at all... and if I recall correctly on my test drive there was not mush wind coming in...I like wind and the cold... you say these upgraded guards might make a nice breeze into the cab? Cool.

I've often wondered if I could retrofit in a set of motors off a dodge caravan or similar... seems to me that it should be do-able...

you could probably find the parts in old dodge caravans and the likes at a scrap yard. Power slider windows would be money!
